He should. Ed Policy said he is not considering extending either Gutekunst or LaFleur at this time: that will wait until after this season. Both are in their next to last season, a common time for extensions to be negotiated, before they get to their contract years. Sounds like "prove it" seasons for both.Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostIs Gute hearing his clock ticking away?

How far does the team have to go? The NFCC would be my expectation. Too much big talk after thecowboy playoff stomping and near loss to SF has dug a deep hole of expectations for both. This trade practically screams it out.Originally posted by Patler View PostHe should. Yeah, would definitely be the beginning of the end for Love in GB. He would have to be successful with a new staff, and he hasn’t earned the grace period Favre or Rodgers winning it all.Originally posted by Teamcheez1 View PostIt’s already been rumored that Policy is not afraid to move on from Gute and MLF if they don’t produce.
That would include unhitching his wagon from Love.

Damn, that means Tank was right with his cooking the cap talk. There is a way to do these things if someone is willing to put reputation and job on the line to get it done.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostParsons' contract is more like a 3 year deal...then we'll talk about it.

It's true up to a point. But if you overdo it, you end up like the Saints.Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostDamn, that means Tank was right with his cooking the cap talk. This is one of the stupidest trades I’ve ever seen. Parsons is on a HOF trajectory and is in his prime through the entire 4 year contract.
Some comparable careers of 6’3” 245 pass rushers are:
Von Miller
Derrick Thomas
Lawrence Taylor (not quite as heavy, but smaller eras)
Clay Matthews (not quite as good)
The drop off happens at 30 for all of the above.
This is one of the most one sided trades I’ve ever seen. Mack was not as good as Parsons.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

Great trade for the Packers. Odds are against the Packers finding a player of Parsons’ kung fu with the two picks they gave up. Clark is overrated and overpaid. Hustling Jack Heflin can do what Clark does for a lot less frogskins.
Prime Claymaker was good. Had the same cat-like chase after QBs that Parsons has. Problem with the Claymaker is, every time he chased after a QB, he was a hammy pull waiting to happen. Knock on woods, but Parsons doesn’t have a history of hammy pulls.I don’t want a battle from beginning to end
I don’t want a cycle of recycled revenge

Of course APB was right. He was echoing me hahahaha. And yeah, it can be overdone, but that takes a bunch of bad luck/bad circumstances. As I've said a couple of times now, Parsons damn well better not get hurt. A serious injury could seriously fuck up everything. Actually, though, that would probably take several serious injuries and the need to replace the injured. As important as Edge Rusher and in particular Parsons is, replacing a high paid QB would do more to mess up the cap cooking.Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostDamn, that means Tank was right with his cooking the cap talk. Thanks for this. It looks pretty kind to our cap for 2025 (this current season), 2026, and 2027, then the cap and dead money values flip-flop in 2028. That's pretty okay for the short-term.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostParsons' contract is more like a 3 year deal...then we'll talk about it.
Is there a mechanism for converting bonuses to salary, so we could take more of the signing-bonus hit in an upcoming season that we have cap space, or does it only work in the opposite direction (converting salary to signing bonus to space out the cap hit)?I believe in God, family, Baylor University, and the Green Bay Packers.

That would include unhitching his wagon from Love.....and Gute has traded away draft value that would be needed to get Love's replacement. The Packers could become like so many other teams, searching years for the next "guy".Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostYeah, would definitely be the beginning of the end for Love in GB. If this trade doesn't work out like they hope, it could hurt their outlook for years.

No no no, nobody of consequence. If anything like that happened at all, it wouldn't be until the fourth year of the contract, and either restructuring him or cutting him if he deteriorates would be strongly likely then.Originally posted by sharpe1027 View PostThis is huge.
