Oshkosh blew out Appleton on their way to the Wisconsin State Championship. Darrin Charles was named Wis high school player of the year. He caught one pass for 18 yards. Charles played almost the whole game at safety to preserve the shut out.

I shoulda put the highlights of myself shutting down Darren Charles on YouTube when I had the chance. Alas, accidentally threw it away when I threw out my VHS porn stack.

I guess if you were on the field as a corner for three plays or so toward the end of the game, and the opposing team was running the ball because they were up by four touchdowns, meaning nobody threw the ball to Darrin Charles, you could technically say you shut Darrin Charles down, and repeat that story year after year while your aching arthritic joints flare up as you flip yet another burger and your teenage co-workers’ eyes glaze over while you blather on.

it was fun when I discovered that Tanks tale was all bullshit. I was in a golf outing in the Appleton area. At the outing, I asked around if anyone had any knowledge of that fabled game. Another golfer referred me to an old buddy. A teammate of mine was the principal of OSHKOSH North. He told me that Darrin was a man playing with boys, bigger, stronger with solid speed. Jim then introduced me to two of the Oshkosh assistant Head coaches x (Due to that big win, the head coach got hired at a bigger school with much better salary) I asked what kind of a game it was, all three of them horse laughed. "It was a blow out, we were a seasoned team pointing to win the State championship. They never crossed the fifty". Oshkosh N wasn't fooling around. They were gonna run and pass threw em and stone em on D.

Thats just what they did. They went on to the State Championship. Several of the ON players received college scholarships.
