Juat like Pepperidge Farms this forum will always remember.Originally posted by Anti-Polar Bear View PostI shoulda put the highlights of myself shutting down Darren Charles on YouTube when I had the chance. Alas, accidentally threw it away when I threw out my VHS porn stack.
In a few years, nobody will remember that I shut down Darren Charles in a high school football game…unless someone in Hollywood accepts my pilot script for the sitcom, “The Shutdown Corner.” It’s about a burger flipper.

I tackled Dennis Bogatz (if I'm even spelling it correctly) into a huge mud puddle at the 30 yard line in Pulaski once. There's my claim to fame. Oh, and I spyed some scat back from Ashwaubenon who racked up like 250 yards once. That was below his season average. Detloff or Ditloff or something like that. Yep, going to pull up glory days on youtube now.Originally posted by Fritz View PostI guess if you were on the field as a corner for three plays or so toward the end of the game, and the opposing team was running the ball because they were up by four touchdowns, meaning nobody threw the ball to Darrin Charles, you could technically say you shut Darrin Charles down, and repeat that story year after year while your aching arthritic joints flare up as you flip yet another burger and your teenage co-workers’ eyes glaze over while you blather on.The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

That’s impressive.
But it is the end of an era. For a long time, some of Guter’s best players were not players he had acquired.
Long live Ted. I liked the guy, and was sad that his last two or three drafts were so poor."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Maybe I am too cuz I believe you both. Maybe he didn’t shut Darren Charles down but he may have been in a game against him. I have always enjoyed the story true or not.Originally posted by KYPack View PostReal as rain MTP. Only Tank is crazy enough to make up a lie like that AND brag about it.

it was fun when I discovered that Tanks tale was all bullshit. I was in a golf outing in the Appleton area. At the outing, I asked around if anyone had any knowledge of that fabled game. Another golfer referred me to an old buddy. A teammate of mine was the principal of OSHKOSH North. He told me that Darrin was a man playing with boys, bigger, stronger with solid speed. Jim then introduced me to two of the Oshkosh assistant Head coaches x (Due to that big win, the head coach got hired at a bigger school with much better salary) I asked what kind of a game it was, all three of them horse laughed. "It was a blow out, we were a seasoned team pointing to win the State championship. They never crossed the fifty". Oshkosh N wasn't fooling around. They were gonna run and pass threw em and stone em on D.Originally posted by MadtownPacker View PostMaybe I am too cuz I believe you both. Thats just what they did. They went on to the State Championship. Several of the ON players received college scholarships.
Darrin was named Wisconsin High School Player of the year and got a full scholly to the Wisconsin Badgers
