I don’t get the angst over the pace on the OT drive. MLF was fine up until he failed to call time out after the final first down. Instead, we ran a play that was obviously going to be a quick hitter, the defense blew it up, and we took the time out after losing 10 seconds and some yardage. Take the time out and get your shit figured out instead of half assing it on the fly.

Obviously, whatever the fuck happened on the final throw also deserves questioning, but again that has nothing to do with pace. It was 3rd and long and we had one shot at the end zone. Not sure why it took so long to develop.
It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

Punting in fourth and short when near midfield is stupid.

We had around 3:40 left in the game when we started the final drive. Time should never have been a factor.
So what if we leave 30 seconds on the clock, if we get to the end zone, they can no longer win/tie with a FG.

If we scored a TD - game was over. There wasn’t a 2nd possession after that to worry about

exactly. ... It was as if Lafleur didn't understand the overtime rules. Maybe he got the same NFL rules book as Pickens.

And correction: they had 4:40 on the final drive and they had NO TIME left once in the red zone, where they were FIVE TDs on FIVE red zones throughout the game (I was wrong above). Basically, get to the red zone, and win. instead, it was a hot mess of rushed final plays with no time left That's on MLF. It really looked like he was playing to tie.

I think LaFleur was playing it really cautious. He wanted a touchdown, but in the event they got stopped and had to kick a field goal, didn't want to leave Dallas any time. So they wanted to run clock, but it got away from them. They have a lot of work to do on time management and situational football.

True, but it has to start with LeFleur. He sets the tone, and he continues to make poor game-management decisions.

What to think of this team? The one piece that the team seemed to really have in hand was the defense - it was the most impressive defense we've seen in Green Bay in about forever, for those first three weeks. But in this game, the front four got little pressure against a partly second-string offensive line, and as a result, Hobbs and Valentine looked worse than pedestrian. That was just a poor defensive performance, a real head-scratcher.

The offense was sputtering at times earlier this season, even in the first two games as well as the Cleveland game. Yet they hung forty on Dallas last night.

The one constant is the suckage of Rich Bisaccia's special teams. When Green Bay scored that second touchdown, I thought maybe, just maybe, this could be confidence-building blowout for the Pack. But as soon as Dallas returned that blocked EP, you could just feel the air go out of the Packer sideline. It was a big "Uh Oh" moment.

I'm not at all sure what to make of this team. Except that the special teams sucks, as it always, always does. And that's with a good kicker and punter on the team.

If the Packers are so gung-ho to give Bisaccia guys he wants for ST (Zayne Anderson, Niederman, etc), why not give him a specialized return guy who can actually get yards on returns? Better yet, fire Bisaccia and give the new ST guy that kind of player, and then insist that the new ST coach teach his guys to actually make blocks and cover punts and kicks properly.

This team - I have no idea.

I'll be interested to hear Hafley's next PC. Why were they playing what appeared to be a softer zone than in earlier games? Why couldn't any rushers take advantage of the attention Parsons was drawing?

On the bright side, Love has been great from a clean pocket. The offense could really take off if guys heal up on the OL and we see some continuity there. The running game finally showed some signs of life as the game progressed.

Agree on both points, Joe. Absolutely.

Are you relieved that PB is back? Someone besides you who is knowledgeable and reasonable? Patler doesn’t post much, so you’re the only one doing the work. The rest of us are just crazy fans who post based on feelings and not knowledge. Even APB says as much.

There’s a handful of super knowledgeable posters here - some more draft focused, some more cap focused, some are impressive on game knowledge and tactics, others on history of the game.

                        I’m none of those things.

                        Where’s Nutz and Harvey?

Sunday's game was the 83rd game in franchise history in which the #Packers scored 40-plus points. They are 80-2-1 in those games.

I agonize over the special teams disasters week after week but I have to also acknowledge that a part of that comes from the teams youth. If you look at the Packers depth, they are usually one of the younger teams in the NFL. With that youth comes inexperience. Especially on blocking and coverage units for special teams. Lets face it, if the Packers are going to go with the speed and the athletic ability that youth provides, we are going to see the occasional breakdown on special teams.
