Anthony, he’s Belton people. Nice. I hope with practice and experience he’ll get better at understanding the calls and his responsibilities.

Make him the starting RG, I say. Have a seat, Jordan Morgan.
If it was separated, almost would have preferred him miss the Vikes game and be better for the Lions. Though we already have one win over those cats. That does put the game plan into more perspective.

Also explains why Belton got so many reps in second half.

Is a separated shoulder the same as a sprained A/C joint? Nagler was calling it the latter on his post game Q and A last night. I really liked his take as far as the play-calling: protect #10, run out the clock, save our guys (and playbook) for the kitties.

Thank Joe, PB and Bobs re: O-line. I need to train myself to get my eye off the ball and on the interior o-line.

I think I can maybe live with an offensive line of:
        Rasheed Walker-Aaron Banks-Sean Rhyan-Anthony Belton-Zach Tom

But the carousel has got to be settled because I feel the Offensive Line might be our weakest link.

          And now it's time for...

Mo Cheddah - fresh from the virtual realm as a snack for all you Banjo players and enthusiasts:

Warren Brinson, a 6th round rookie, made a team-best five pressures (including a sack) on only 15 pass-rush snaps. He shared his sack with Isaiah McDuffie. (Heh-heh. Shared his sack) His pass-rush grade was 83.5. That's ridiculous production.
Note: Need a nickname for Brinson!

McDuffie had a third down stop in coverage against T.J. Hockenson, a stop on Hockenson's sneak attempt on third down, a sack of J.J. McCarthy on a drive ending in a punt and an interception of McCarthy in the fourth quarter.
Is Isaiah McDuffie > Quay Walker?

Converting third-and-short is one area where the Packers offense falls short this season.
Packers gonna hafta improve in this area like before Thursday. Will they?

While watching the game w/ friends - I called out as he hit the ground - that JJM had a concussion. The fact that, as fans, we can easily spot this and the trained nfl spotters didn’t pull and evaluate him needs to be investigated.

It apparently happened late in 4th quarter. 2 plays later he threw INT to Evan Williams.

He did land with a thud, but I can see the spotters missing it as it wasn't clear that he was acting like he had a concussion. He took a good hit, but nothing that extreme for the NFL. I think the key was that he was spun around right before the hit that drove him down, so he wasn't as braced as he would normally have been. There wasn't a big bounce and his head hit on the front. Without some clear confusion or staggering, it's hard for a spotter to tell.

                    Here's the criteria they use:
The spotter can only stop play with clear visual evidence of two very specific criteria:

1)A player who displays obvious signs of disorientation or is clearly unstable; and
2)If it becomes apparent that the player is attempting to remain in the game and not be attended to by the club’s medical or athletic training staff.
Criteria 1 was not met in their eyes, and honestly, you see that kind of reaction on every solid hit.

I love that instead of saying good-bye, Auf fedder sein. He says, Auf fedder sack.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

I cannot believe those homies let Darnold walk out the door. He was absolutely slinging it last year. Why would you give that up for an unknown?? I guess the Chargers did it with Rivers/Brees and it went okay but seems risky fo sho. I get the money piece I guess but on the other hand any good QB is gonna get paid and if he flames out the contract is manageable and tradeable based on how good he slings it.

I think I logged on here a while back to register my take that the McCarthy pick was a disastrous one for the Vikings. Not based on scouting. But they violated every common guide to getting value out of the draft with that move and the fact that the needed a QB desperately just makes it worse (no one suspected Darnold would be reincarnated as good at the time of the draft).

But I missed was what they did after that. They had the 11th pick in the first round, they acquired the 23rd pick from the Texans for 2 second picks, a sixth rounder and got back a seventh rounder. https://www.vikings.com/news/trade-f...2024-nfl-draft

This didn't work as their target was Drake Maye and they couldn't get into the Top 3 (New England selected him with the 3rd pick).

So they moved up one spot costing them their 11th, 129th, and 157th picks. This was costly but likely necessary as the Jets were open for business and the Broncos and the Raiders needed a QB. And they select McCarthy.

But they weren't done lighting draft capital on fire. I missed their second trade. Here is the defense if you wish: https://www.purpleinsider.football/p...ut-calculating

Here is the critique, its in a longer column about trading up in the draft, you will find the Turner discussion near the end. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...winners-losers

In the end, the Vikings sent their second-, fifth- and sixth-round picks in 2024 and their second-, third- and fourth-round picks in 2025 to add Turner. By the Stuart chart, this deal is a nightmare. They paid more than double what the No. 17 pick typically returns. They gave up something close to the equivalent of the No. 1 pick in a typical draft to land Turner by the Stuart chart.
The kicker from today's CheeseheadTV: "Speaking of first-round picks, Dallas Turner had a clean-up sack and it reminded me of how O'Connell said he was the best pass rusher in the draft last year, and then he got no snaps last season. Honestly, I forgot he existed, so I wanted to check in on his progress. He has a 61.3 PFF grade, good for 71st among edge rushers and he has three sacks on the season, good for 47th."

                              Source: https://cheeseheadtv.com/blog/around...25-week-12-719

By comparison, Micah Parsons looks cheap and this sequence likely explains the constant complaining by Vikings fans that the Packers are overrated (or Love is). They are way behind the Packers and the way forward isn't clear.

All the "shannahan tree" QBs look ok because the shannahan tree believes in a running game. Even that sloth Tua looks good. The right move is always to hire a good OC and only pay a QB if his name is Mahomes, Burrow or Allen...and maybe Lamar now. Definitely never pay for Love, that's a solid bobblehead rule.
