Well, at least good until they hit the second round of the playoffs. Has the Shanny tree beside the Sean McVay short twig won a Superb Owl?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Well, Shannahan has made it to one. McVay has multiple appearances. Neither of them has Mahomes. If winning an Owl is the ONLY measure of a successful coach then almost every coach is a failure. We were generally talking QB success so I'm not laying the groundwork for organizational success. That said Brady always had a great D and a running game. Mahomes has had a great D every time he has won the Owl and usually an adequate running game....and he is Mahomes and Reid is unique as well. Look around the league. QBs simply look better when their team can run the ball. That is simply an indisputable fact. Also a pretty solid fact is that a lot of QBs look awful in one system but great in another system (Baker, Darnold, Willis, Geno, Tannehill, Daniel Jones) Does Brock Purdy EVER enter the MVP conversation as QB of Houston? Cincinatti? Cleveland? Coaching matters. Coaching philosophy matters. The real difference makers at QB that need to be paid can be counted on one hand. Thats my point. The rest are decent QBs playing in smarter better set ups than guys who aren't playing in those situations. Tell me absolutely that Brock Purdy is a better QB than Jacoby Brisset. One is paid a kings ransom, the other came off the bench to replace another over rated QB who is paid a kings ransom.

Edit: Rodgers himself looked like it was almost over until he bought into the "shannahan" offense then he won 2 more MVPs. Then he decided he didn't need to listen to anyone anymore. Then he was a dumpster fire in NY and now he is back to an adequate NFL starter at a ripe old age because he is in a better situation.

For my money if we could get 2 firsts for Love and move on with Willis I don't think the team would miss a beat.

You've seen enough of Willis to think he can match Love's arm/accuracy? Not snark, honestly curious.

Willis certainly has done well in the opportunities he has had with GB. Yet...the three NFC personnel guys Silverstein talked to for his article about re-signing Willis, who had all studied Willis and the Packers, seemed of the opinion that Willis will be viewed only as a preferred backup, not a guy who will be expected to challenge for a starting job.

I think highly of Willis, and he impressed last year, but his TD this year was awfully close to being a red zone pick...

Mahomes superpower isn’t his adequacy with a run game. It’s his ability to make his mediocre run games look great because teams are sacred to death of him. Rodgers could do the same thing. Brady started off as smart with a run game and developed into deadly with almost any run game.

Now of course an offense will be better with both over the long haul. But the special QB doesn’t win with his run game. He throws the team into a winning position late. Mahones didn’t get a game winning field goal with 13 seconds left by play faking or handing off.

Average QBs are as you describe. And Love hasn’t truly risen above that yet. He has above average traits but the offense hasn’t gelled around his passing. However I can’t parse if it’s him, the coach or the WR slowing things down. Frankly each has been at fault at times.

Other than McVay, not convinced the Shanahan method is good enough with average QB performance. And the whole system is designed to elevate routine QBs.

The way QB contracts are escalating, it won’t be long until Love’s contract is just a slightly-above-average QB contract, and we can all quit arguing about whether he’s overpaid for what he is and does.

I just wanna see The Flower use some play action on first down, just to change it up. Mebbe throw some intermediate routes. C’mon, Matty.
