Who Should MLF Pick As Defensive Coordinator?

Now that resume starts off with ALL kinds of flags (like all the previous internal hires) but the 2 years with Fangio in Philly are a big plus to me. Of course, I have no idea how well he coaches. He's really young.

He was also with Fangio in Denver in 2021. He stayed for 2 years there after Fangio was fired. The fact that Fangio brought him along to Philly when he got the DC job there says a lot. I don't see Parker as a prospective internal hire. I don't think his work here as quality control coach would have much, if anything to do with him getting hired. It's all about his work with Fangio.

On no universe would I want this guy over R Morris.

I would love to see a Strong DC and OC come in here who don't have history with Flower, and we have proven themselves in the past.

That would leave Saleh, Schwarts, and Morris as the ideal choices. Morris has earned two HC'ing opportunites for being a great DC. HE's not getting another for a while. Of course the Packers would need to OPEN up their wallet for a quality DC; so maybe they will hire your guy...I'd also take Jimmy over Parker as well.

Saleh is getting hired by the Titans I think.

While we're on it, NO MORE internal promotions for these coaching vacancies.

Some of those guys on the list, of course, won't be available. Others are old retreads that I prefer not to get. Christian Parker, from what you posted about him, Joe, seems like maybe a good choice. I want somebody young and innovative, less tied to a particular scheme, more able to tailor his scheme to the personnel of the team.

Not terribly interested in Gannon. His defense during the regular season was good in Philly but it fell apart in the Super Bowl. And then his defenses in Arizona weren't exactly must see TV.

I woujld certainly take Flores over him but really don't want anther one and done. Bradley, Schwartz would ge stellar picks as well.

IF Vance Joseph, who has multiple head coaching interviews, gets a job my buddy Payton is going to be begging my ole buddy JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY, who was giving an Assistant Head Coach Title as well, to stay as the DC.

I would undoubtedly embrace JIMMY over all these up and coming yahooos.

Flores is a free agent coach. He might get a HC job though.

The truth is, I don't know jack about most of these guys, so I'm not really qualified to give athoughtful opinion.

But why let that stop me?

What about Flores? If he wants to continue to be a DC. His crazy blitzing defenses seemed to give Green Bay fits at times.

But I would think that choosing the right DC means choosing a guy who runs a system that is compatible with the kind of talent you have and don't have. I don't know if a Flores system would work for a guy like Micah Parsons. I have no idea.

But good players make good coaches, too.

I'd like to see a guy who can develop the talent at hand. Halfley seemed to have a good system and the communication was mostly good, but guys like Cooper and Valentine backslid.

I can't understand why they'd want a guy like Gannon. He doesn't seem impressive.

So basically I have no fucking idea.

I would not mind Leonhard at all now. I think he's much better prepared to be an NFL DC now than he was in 2021.

The Vikings have signed defensive coordinator Brian Flores to a new contract, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

Flores is still a candidate with the Steelers and Ravens head coaching jobs. But if he doesn’t land one of those, he’ll stay in Minnesota.
