But Leonhard's family supposedly still lives in MadTown.

If they hire him, I'm going to blame Bretsky for every defensive breakdown.
Maybe I'm biased by my experience as a parent but I cannot see any world where he wouldn't come home if his family lives here. That would mean in _two_ years they didn't move with him for a job. What job is worth that? I would think he would be jumping at the opportunity to come back home and be near his people. Obviously green bay isn't madison so maybe the situation doesn't change that much.

What parent wants to be away from there kids for 6 months of the year though. You're already financially set. There's no job that's worth that IMO.

My guess is his family doesn't live in Madison.

Well, if you had a different mindset - say, for example, you were a Packer quarterback in the 90's and 00's who liked the young ladies and didn't mind dipping behind the wife's back - you might be glad to have a job that is out-of-town.

But I appreciate your point. That would be a draw. But you might want to weigh the benefits of coaching close to home against the possibility that your kids and family might get harrassed if the defense you are hired to coordinate does not do well. I mean, I don't live in Wisconsin, so maybe people there wouldn't do that. But I bet they would in a place like Philly.

Katie Leonhard looks like a very lovely, genuine, down-home kind of woman. I imagine Jim Leonhard misses being near her.

But still, just to be on the safe side, let's start a GoFundMe page to raise enough to buy her some new lingerie so Jim Leonhard feels a little more urgency about moving closer to home.

The Green Bay Packers are expected to wait until Jim Leonhard is available to interview before Matt LaFleur makes a decision on his next defensive coordinator.

While on the "Wilde & Tausch" show on ESPN Madison on Friday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN said he believes LaFleur will "talk to a lot of guys" in the defensive coordinator search and Leonhard -- who currently is on staff with the Denver Broncos and preparing for Sunday's AFC Championship Game -- is a top candidate.

"I don't think anything happens until he can talk to Jim Leonhard. I think Jim Leonhard is high on his list," Demovsky said.

The Packers cannot talk to or interview Leonhard until the Broncos are eliminated. Even if the Broncos win Sunday, Demovsky was not sure if the Packers (or any other team) could interview Leonhard during the Super Bowl bye week -- potentially forcing LaFleur to wait longer before talking with one of his top candidates.

DAM I JUST LISTENED TO THE WHOLE INTERVIEW AND WAS GOING TO BREAK THIS

Yesterday Wilde said he has sources that say GB is very interested in talking to Jimmy Leonard next week
And then Demovsky noted GB is expected to interview Leonard, and went on to say if they really wanted to hire one of these yahoos, they already would have.

            LET'S ALL SAY IT TOGETHER

WHERE is the IF coming from ????????????? It's widely known this is exactly what happened. In the end, Jimmy believed he was going to be the Badgers Head Coach and that is why he passed the job offer up.

I don't know this part for sure, but from what I remember (and trust me I fanatically bleed red and white), JIMMY was getting paid very well at UW Madison. They upped his salary when others tried poaching him in college like they did Dave Aranda. GB reportedly didn't come in with a strong financial offer to Jimmy as compared to what he was making at UW Madison. If that is true, that might have been part of his considerations as well

I really don't think he turns it down again unless the offer is crap.

I just hope we try to hire him before Vance Joseph gets an offer to be a head coach Definitely cheeringn against him

                  VERY TRUE

Even after Jimmy went to the NFL, his family stayed in Madison. His residence is under 15 miles from my workplace. His family is there, every day Minus Jimmy

And when Jimmy guides this defense to win a Super Bowl, Bretsky gets credit too ))

                      Aaron Nagler
                      @AaronNagler

Seen some confusion on this so to clarify: The Packers can speak with Leonhard regardless of whether the Broncos win or lose on Sunday. If Denver does indeed head to the Super Bowl, the Packers simply have to have the initial interview between January 26th-February 1st.

If his family really does live here west of madison, I think he'd come here either way.

Al Harris didn't intercept a lot of passes in his NFL career, but his secondaries have been prolific. He's the latest to interview for the Packers' defensive coordinator vacancy. ⬇️

I did see some weird puffs of smoke going up around the madison area when I was back. But seriously, if Leonhard actually wants the job this time it wouldn't be hard to get that message to Matt.

This is sort of my gut feeling. If we weren't sitting on Jimmy (with good reason to believe he wants the job) then we would already have a DC. Waiting while Parker and others get hired wouldn't be very smart otherwise.
