One thing I've noticed about this loss, is that there is more optimism than usual. Hell, I see some more optimism after this game than the Lions game. We still should of won this game, but I'd rather show improvement and lose in a heart-breaking fasion than get blown out. The Bye week at this time is good and bad. The good thing is we get time to regroup and get our shit together, because we need that. The bad thing is we're going have this loss hanging over us for 13 days.

I thought they were gonna pull it out for you man! win or lose, I bet it was a fun game to be at. Like you said, the crowd seemed real into it. Sounded like you did good work for the team today!Originally posted by mmmdkI was at the game; the crowd was awesome - they forced false starts and kept yelling. Also, simlpy put, the Packers wasted this game. Period. I'm not gonna let the loss bring me down. Go Packers. PS - Hold onto the damn ball plus catch those Bulger ints.

'cause the front 7 and OL both looked good, and that is the breeding ground for success, imo.Originally posted by BallHawkOne thing I've noticed about this loss, is that there is more optimism than usual. Obviously, you have to make plays to win, and we didn't make enough of them today. As much as Packnut and Wist want to cry about not winning, the reality is that it's more important to show strong development this year than win, and most people saw that today.Originally posted by Partial'cause the front 7 and OL both looked good, and that is the breeding ground for success, imo.Originally posted by BallHawkOne thing I've noticed about this loss, is that there is more optimism than usual. Overall, the Packers outplayed a team that's not too bad on both sides of the ball. The Rams have some weapons on O and a pretty good line, and our D did a nice job for most of the game coralling the conference's leading rusher and shutting down a strong passing attack.
It appears that the Rams have some holes on D, but we, for the most part, exploited them.
Now this young team has to continue to become more consistent, make a few more plays, and learn how to win in this league. All of those will come with more experience.

The 4 teams we've lost to are a combined 15-2. We're far from a terrible team. If the OL continues to improve, the Packers should be very competitive the rest of the year.I can't run no more with that lawless crowd

Well, I'm not sure I completely agree....you really want to win your home games, and as Kiwon pointed out, you don't want your young guys getting used to losing all the time. I didn't see any of the game so I don't know anything other than what I've read here.

That looks like 17-3 to me Joe, but your point is made. Will be interesting to see what happens as the season progresses.

Ras, this team is not playoff caliber yet... You've heard the saying, "you've got to crawl before you can walk, and walk before you can run..."Originally posted by RastakOriginally posted by vinceObviously, you have to make plays to win, and we didn't make enough of them today. You get the picture I'm sure. This team isn't a playoff caliber team yet. This loss isn't going to be the difference in them going to the playoffs or not. We all know that.
I've listened to MM in his press conferences discuss the type of attitude, habits, and expectations for this team. I have no doubt that this team will have the mindset necessary to win, when it matters. I am very comfortable, based on what I've seen and heard from MM that he understands how to develop young players and ensure that they have the mental toughness, fortitude, and killer instinct to fight.
And further, this isn't Pop Warner league. These players, while young, understand how they are progressing, whether they have the talent to compete and what they need to do week in and week out to get to where they want to be.
Now they have to experience the growth. They'll get there. I have no doubt that this loss will make them hungrier, not more complacent, since they know they outplayed the other team and deserved to win, but came up just short.

I felt like your squad got some breaks in the 4th quarter to beat a bad team at home. After the first few games, I was actually afraid the Vikings were going to be a lot better than I thought they'd be. Now, they don't look very fierce. They've gotten some breaks in the games they've won with opposing injuries, and they've gotten some breaks during the games late. That's just the way I see it.Originally posted by RastakHarvey! Dude, when you play good defense you force these things....minimize it all you want. Now one thing I WILL say, Brad Johnson isn't playing well and the Vikings offense looks sick, and not a good sick.
They are also constantly shooting themselves in the foot with penalties.
I also notice you didn't mention the points the Vikings gifted the Lions when they fumbled on their own 30 on a punt. But then again you never ever mention stuff like that.....you're OK Harv but you crack me up!
You talk about what I mention or fail to mention, but the most negative thing you've ever said about the Vikings is something like "I'll admit that Brad Johnson isn't playing that well." Really! It's not just Johnson. It's the conservative playcalling. It's the WR drops. The poor blocking from what looks to be an overrated OL. It's an RB that will get what the OL gives him, but not much more. Their offense looks below average, and it doesn't look like it will get much better.
Maybe I'm just bitter because Green Bay seems snakebitten right now."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

Hey, I'll agree with you when you are right and call you out when I think you are wrong. I will say this, the Vikings run game was MUCH better today. Their pass blocking was suspect at best. I agree that with the money invested in the line it should be better. They didn't have alot of drops today but it's been a HUGE problem over the first 4 games....it looks like that's been somewhat corrected, at least it was today. I agree the offense is below average also.....but man, they sure are playing some tough defense. Check out Detroits rushing stats. You called those turnovers gifts but the reality is they forced those. I see the Vikes as a 9-7 team right now.
I am on the Bears bandwagon though,,,,,DAMN.....

We played terribly in game one Vs "the Bears". OK.Originally posted by retailguyOriginally posted by JoemailmanThe 4 teams we've lost to are a combined 15-2. We're far from a terrible team. If the OL continues to improve, the Packers should be very competitive the rest of the year.

We were leading "the Saints" and "the Eagles" at the half way points of those games and ran out of gas.
We almost came back today Vs. the RAMS.
As you say retailguy these teams that defeated us.
Are an aggregate rated - based on this week's POWER RANKING:
( 36 combined ) devided by 4 = (9) and OUR POWER RANKING = 28.
So we should take some hope from that.
GO PACK GO !
A well deserved Bye Week in week 6 to re-group.** Since 2006 3 X Pro Pickem' Champion; 4 X Runner-Up and 3 X 3rd place.
