When does a defensive penalty EVER prevent a play from continuing? I can't think of one. AN offsides is pre-snap too. The play continues and the offense gets the choice.
Exactly!
Um, League office - this is TT - we need to chat before the 2nd half starts. I've got some fucking bullshit going on down here - change the score before we have riots and looting in GB.
Well, I don't know the rule but I'm guessing the flag was thrown before the snap and it was a pre-snap personal foul......
The flag was for there action causing a perceived false start (thus blowing the whistle). But the call was against the fucking defense.
First half analysis. Get some lube and take it up the a$$.

ok, so the offensive offsides makes it offsetting penalties. THAT i understand. but, i don't remember ever hearing thr refs or game announcers state that.
Always respect your opponent, even when you're kicking the crap outta him.
i'm still waiting to see the official league explanation of that fiasco. they just wiped out a franchise record 55 yard field goal because of a penalty no one's ever heard of.
I've heard of that penalty, it's normally called offsides though, or defensive false start, forcing the offensive player to jump...NFL has made it a Personal Foul this year.

Ahh, I get the picture, it was still the right call but Green Bay got sorta screwed.....well, they screwed themselves when they commited the penalty on the second try.....
I hope M3 is flipping over tables and hurling those big orange gatoraid jugs against the wall in efforts to motivate his team. I cannot deal with these flat starts anymore.
Alligators just look angry at all times. I don't know what is it about them.

I found this funny...at half time of a game of mine 3 years ago, we were losing to a team we were obviously worse then (this was in minnesota where i went to school) and i went in and lectured the guys, and flipped over a table....Head Coach had me go into the booth for the 2nd half...

I rewatched the TiVO. They did comment on it. And it's still the biggest joke I've seen in the NFL in awhile. Replay doesn't work and these refs need a handholder besides the Quality Control guy.
Basically, 'unlike in Madden 07 - the defense can't shift to fool the offense".
It was probably thought to be a false start (whistle blow - which can now be reviewed and ignored I believe). Then the penalty changed it.
The personal foul was after the kick. If it was holding or something, I'd understand. But you let the clock run to 0:00 but the play either did or didn't exist.
And before that they reviewed an unreviewable call.

every week the end of the first half is becoming more of a cluster f'ck then the last.
1st and 10 with 1 minute left. we run the ball and waste 30 seconds. THEN decide we want to try and score.
That is the way the NFL does it these days. They are so overly concerned with giving the ball away to the other team that they often screw themselves in the process.
I can't fault M3 too much. He accomplished EXACTLY what he wanted. He got the team in FG range at the end of the half. It was just unfortunate that all the other crap happened after that point.
