    from packerchatters
    On the Sidelines

    March 1, 2007
Written by Joe Arrigo - PackerChatters Staff

The Packers and Raiders are still taking about a deal
that would send Randy Moss to the Packers for a
3rd...possibly a second round pick. Moss needs (and
has agreed to) re-work his contract (making it more
'cap friendly") in order for the deal to work. The
combine helped the two teams re-start talks about
sending the WR to the Packers. If the Packers do trade
for Moss, look for them to trade down a few spots to
add a second round pick in the draft, getting back
what they possibly will use to trade for Moss (It
looks like it could happen but as I have been pointing
out since I broke this story, it will come down to Al
Davis and what he wants for him, Moss and the Packers
appear to be on the same page, but if Davis wants a
    1st rounder, it wont happen...I could see a 3 and a
player). There is no way they will trade Moss
    for Aaron Rodgers straight up.

I was told at the stroke of midnight the Packers will
TRY to be the first team to schedule a visit from
Adalius Thomas, ands lock him into a deal while he is
    in Green Bay.

The Packers will go hard after Justin Griffith at the
    stroke of midnight tonight (3-2-07).

Dan Graham, the Patriots TE, is a strong consideration
    for Green Bay come Friday.

Look for the Packers to try and nail down a deal with
Ahman Green by the start of FA.

Look for the Packers to look into adding Aaron Brooks
    and Patrick Kearney.

The Packers REALLY like what they saw in LaRon Landry,
the LSU Safety. If he is there with their 1st round
    pick...he could be the pick. He ran a 4.37, had a 37
and a half inch vert and tested REALLY WELL. Not to
mention when they interviewed him he impressed the
    staff.

The Packers also liked WR's Robert Meachem, Buster
Davis (WR, LSU), Ted Ginn (during the interview
process), Dwayne Jarrett, S John Wendling, RB's Brian
Leonard, Chris Henry (RB, Arizona), TE Zach Miller and
    DE Jarvis Moss.

I know for a fact the Packers came away impressed with
a RB that could be had in the 4th round. They used
their video simulator and asked him to break down the
play, where the protection should be and he nailed it.
They also asked him to draw up a play and again were
impressed. (Sorry cann't name the player)

I heard the Cardinals and Dolphins want to make a
deal...swapping 1's...so the Phins' can take Quinn and
the Cards to take the Penn St. OT.

If the Raiders trade Moss, they may try to add David
Carr (local kid out of Fresno ST.) to be the starter.
They would then add Calvin Johnson with the 1st
overall pick. Carr could be had for a 3...definitely a
    2.

Jeff Garcia has interest in the Raiders, as do the
    Raiders.

The Jets MAY be looking to trade starting MLB
Johnathan Vilma. The Redskins have interest in him, as
would a few other NFL teams.

The Browns have also looked into adding Carr.

The Minnesota Vikings is said to be going HARD after
    Dante Stallworth and Daniel Graham.

The Broncos, Redskins, and Saints appear to be the
    front runners for Drè Bly.

Trent Green to the Dolphins? There is interest, but if
they (the Dolphins) draft Quinn and still have BIG
Daunte Culpepper, where does Green fit in?

Ahman Green will draw interest from the Jets, Broncos,
    Texans and Raiders.

The Raven and Jamal Lewis should be back together by
Sunday. By cutting him they saved $8 million dollars
and already were working on a new deal before they cut
    him.

Drew Bennett, Ashlie Lelie, Brandon Stokely, Kevin
Curtis and Dauntè Stallworth will be the top WR's in
the FA group. Stallworth will be the 1st to go, the
others most likely will wait and see what he gets
    paid.

Willis McGahee can be had for a 3rd round pick and the
Giants, Jets, Raiders, Broncos and Texans may be
interested. The Bills would like to draft Marshawn
Lynch with their 1st round pick.

Rumors are swirling that the Vikings will offer their
2nd round pick for Atlanta back up QB Matt Schaub.

Its interesting, if Landry somehow falls to the packers, and they can take Meachem in the second, and a RB they think can be a starter in the 4th, I would think that would be a good draft. Does anyone think Meachem could still be had by our pick in the 2nd though?

I would think AG would be need be resigned (or some other vet) just to ensure we don't go into the season with a 4th round pick as our only option at RB.

Meachem will be long in the 2nd. If the Packers really want him, they may have to take him at 16. If they want to take a gamble, they trade down a couple spots in the 1st and pray.

I don't think Landry will be there at #16

No way is Landry there at 16, I also doubt Lynch will be there either.

                  OK. . . It's all too simple.

The Packers are targeting Randy Moss and Ahman Green. If Green hits the market then the Packers go after RB Willis McGahee for a third round draft pick and give up their 2nd Round pick (possibly more) in the deal to get Randy Moss.

They will recover that 2nd rd. pick by trading down their 16th pick hoping to land Safety LaRon Landry or WR Robert Meachem or Ted Ginn.

The Packers will sign 2 0f FA's. . . Adalius Thomas, Justin Griffith and Daniel Graham.

Adalius will NOT come to GB. He will end up in SF, but I really believe he will make all the visit, then go to SF, and say, here's the top offer, beat it...

The guy regurgitates what he can find on FOX Sports Rumors, ESPN's Rumor Mill, PFT, and whatever else, and then talks about how he broke the story (well, when you post every rumor you've found, some are bound to stick). He says every year the Packers will trade down in the draft. Duh! Pretty tough since Thompson has traded down like 10 times and never traded up. I can't stand his rumors. If he just said here are the rumors I've read about on the Internet, I respect him a lot more.

He didn't get inside info on that enormous list, so you know the dude is just posting what he finds on the Internet as if he got it from his inside sources. Just too funny to me.

This offseason looks like it could be fairly exciting. TT seems to have a few players that he is very interested in bringing in. FA isn't exactly his game, but there are some guys out there that are worth going after. My guess is that he won't go after alot of guys but he will aggressively go after a few target players. If he misses he will just move on to the draft. As we all know he won't spend money just for the hell of it, a philosphy that I completely agree with.

Only when it hits the newswire somewhere and he drasticly changes his story.

Exactly, I wish somebody could post all of his rumors from last year at this time. I think Arrington would have just gotten cut by the Packers if he knew what he was talking about.
