The video I posted is over 8 minutes long. If you did watch it is very obvious that the QBs (looked like 2 different QBs) were NEVER able to lead him deep when he broke from coverage. That video is what I prefer watching because you get to see the whole formation and get an idea of the DB assignments.

Watch at the 2:20 mark. It looks like the CB and S are marking him. He runs a 10 yard streak, fakes out both DBs and runs back up the field. He was blazing past the CB he just faked out, but the pass was short so he slowed down, giving the CB time to catch up.

Then watch at the 7:37 mark, catches a short pass and some nice footwork to avoid 3 tackles.

I recall Sterling Sharpe who was a pain in the ass for opponents. I really respect Roy Williams and Calvin is gonna be an issue.

Not gonna lie, Jones might be a play-maker.

Clowney just looks like he gets rocked after the catch. His QB couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He seems to create some separation I guess.

Bump. In that youtube video of Jackson, what I would call his slide step (shown very well at 0:32 and 1:18) is what intrigued me about him. He is really shifty in the hole.

That's what I'm thinking. Barbre is as athletic as any OL in the draft. Rouse is as athletic as any S in the draft.

Watching that Jackson video again, this is what I notice:

1. He's not as powerfull as Green.
2. He's not as fast *straitline* as Green in his prime
3. He looked faster than last years Green.
4. He looked much more explosive into the hole than Green last year.
5. He looked much more slippery and elusive than Green last year.


I don't see much of a step back from Green of last year to Jackson. I woulnd't be suprised if our running game took a reasonable step forward with the improved line.

I don't think people appreciate Green in his prime. He didn't play much his rookie year, but mainly because of fumble problems. When Ahman came out, he ran sub 4.3 (which is considerably faster than Jackson). In his prime, he always ran "angry" also. He finished runs. He also had an amazing ability to avoid big hits... mainly because his pad level stayed low. Ahman was one of the most talented RBs in the history of the NFL. I don't see Jackson being elite, but he looks like he could be pretty good. Jackson looks like he gets his pad level low most of the time. He looks like a good receiver. He looks like he might even be shiftier than Ahman. He doesn't have the speed or power that Ahman had in his prime, but not many RBs do. Ahman still had power last year, and he still had speed, but he's taken a step back in both departments. This guy might not be a huge dropoff from last year's Ahman--even in his rookie season.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm wondering if he has the potential to turn into a back similar to Ahman when he reaches his prime. I think the best way to do that is to compare the two at the same point in their NFL careers.

I think you've got the Green and Gold glasses glued to your noggin Harv, but who knows, maybe Jackson will be something special. I will say this, I agree with you on Green in his prime. That dude ran both hard and fast.
I always feared him.

Ahman was tough last year, but he wasn't special. Plenty of rookie RBs come in and do well. I wouldn't be shocked to see this guy approach the 2006 version of Ahman.
