Personally, I prefer:
Fred Smoot
Travis Taylor
Dimitrius Underwood
and
Hershel Walker
Just a little Viking love!
Retail: Hey turnabout is fair play!
Essox: Yea, Yary was solid as can be. The Vikings had some GREAT offensive lineman in the 70's including Ed White and Mick Tingelhoff. Mick should be in the HOF.

Hey, thanks Essox!
My list would be (not to highjack the thread, I'm sure it will ignore me shortly)
Fran Tarkington
Alan Page
Carl Eller
Jim Marshall
That's quite a list. Just think - if you could get those guys back you could lose a bunch more Superbowls.

Ummmm... I really hoped for some feedback here - but the thread kind of turned into a VikingPalooza.Originally posted by The ShadowHi, Brando19 :Originally posted by Brando19Wow...so you would pick Bart Starr right now in his prime over Brett Favre right now in his prime? Wow.Originally posted by The ShadowOriginally posted by packers11but... that means no FavreOriginally posted by The Shadow1. Bart Starr

Been around a long time, little buddy.
Seen a LOT of Packers.
These, for me, were the best.
Yes, I would.
Unquestionably, Favre's physical talents would run rings around Bart's.
And I realize that for more of his career, Starr was surrounded by better talent.
However, Starr -for me - was always the quarterback who 'got the job done';
the ultimate field general.
The most vivid example was Starr's performance in what I consider the greatest, gutsiest drive in football history - that last drive down the field in the Ice Bowl. His calm, methodical performance under the most adverse of conditions imaginable defined the man for all time.
Favre is/was a great player, of course. But to me, Favre has never quite lived up to the pinnacle his physical prowess promised.
The field-generalship aspect - again, in strictly my own opinion - has held him back (perhaps best illustated by his "I won't change" attitude after his declining skills were resulting in un-Favre-like performances).
For me, he was a large part of the Super Bowl loss against the Broncos, as well as the infamous Philly game, where a stronger performance still could have overcome Sherman's blunders.
Those games should have been won.
The clamor for the Packers to eschew the slow rebuilding process to "win one for Favre" I don't at all agree with. To me, Brett had a legit shot in two other seasons beside the one Super Bowl season to get the Pack to the big show and just didn't get it done.
I know a lot of younger fans will spend a long, long time awaiting the 'next Favre'.
Old guy me still awaits the 'next Starr'.Who Knows? The Shadow knows!
