Amazing, what is the standard for a good draft? 4 starting players or contributors??

I totally agree here. I believe the NFL needs a NBA like rookie scale. If Mario doesn't pan out for Houston, they've guaranteed over $26M to him - they'd be hosed for years. It's just not right.

You have to believe the players association would vote for this. Less money for rooks means more money for vets.

I liked the Blackmon pick. He'll play corner. I had him as 3rd round value. Great all-around athlete. I'm puzzled that they took a return man high in the 4th round--when guys like Demetrius Williams were available. That was a real buzzkill. It's been a pretty solid draft, so far--but we could have had Chad Jackson and Demetrius Williams (or Derek Hagan and Demetrius Williams) instead of Greg Jennings and Cory Rodgers.

How come ESPN's shows us drafting Isaac Sowells in the 4th round?

I agree! More power to the guy that wants to spend the most important day of his life to date with his family and friends.....those that have supported him throughout this rather than those that want to exploit him.

Of course the draft is over hyped, I think it's all crap. It's one of the few professions where a new employee gets to make more than current employees without ever having worked at that level. That's why a LB at #5 is a joke. How many points will that 15-20 Mil get you? Not as many, nor prevent as many as a WR, RB or QB will. You need a good defense, we have one. Points win games and as one poster said, we weren't that bad offesively without Walker. BUT we were still 3 pt less then we should have been...

I am sorry here but if you are going to trade your #1 receiver for ONE 2nd rounder then trade that selection away for two more later round picks, you had BETTER come up with two starters with those picks. Right now the only pick I see that "may" contribute is Hawk and I don't think he is an upgrade over anyone we already have. TT had the chance to help the team THIS YEAR, as well as in subsequent years. Instead he is looking 2-3 years down the road and using very HIGH picks on what could arguably be considered "mediocre" at best NFL players. 1 Starter..........1, way to waste the picks...
    MERLIN,
Glad to see ya back; I was beginning to sound too negative as opposed to all the optomists in here. You are a bit more down on the draft than I am so I'm a good balance again.

Hawk is a HUGE upgrade over what we have. We have junk as options w/o this draft as Barnett is our only starter. Hodge should compete with Taylor and is a good LB as well. However, I too am disappointed by some of our 3rd and 4th round picks when more established/NFL ready players were availalbe, and I agree his draft seems to be more for 3 years down the road instead of this year.

Maybe his muscles were just too big.
