  • Rookie Rankings Receiving

Thought this was a little surprising. Packers have the top two rookie receivers (by receptions)
    Receiving

    Code:
Player Team (rnd) REC YDS YPR TD
    James Jones Green Bay (3) 14 183 13.1 0
    Brandon Jackson	Green Bay (2) 11 81 7.4 0
    Calvin Johnson Detroit (1) 10 189 18.9 2
    Dwayne Bowe Kansas City (1) 10 135 13.5 2
    Adrian Peterson Minnesota (1) 8 160 20.0 1
    Zach Miller Oakland (2) 7 54 7.7 0
    Buster Davis San Diego (1) 6 46 7.7 1
    Brian Leonard St. Louis (2) 6 41 6.8 0
Who would have thought the day after the draft that this might be the case?

      Wat to go JJ!

Nice! Jones leads all rookies in receptions and trails Calvin Johnson in yards by 6. Dwayne Bowe is quite a ways behind--while guys like Robert Meachem, Sidney Rice, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, Craig Davis are doing very little. Glad we didn't take a WR in round 1.

Too early to judge these guys. Promising start by Jones though.

Love Jones but CJ will be very special.

I doubt anybody thinks he's in that class of receiver. I haven't seen anything yet from the other rookie WRs that makes me think he can't be one of the best of the rest.

I dont know Bulldog, CJ is getting his chances in the martz offense just like Jones is getting his in M3's offense. If he isn't capitalizing on them then thats on him. The numbers don't lie and right now our guy is the top dog. Tomorrow isn't a sure thing for any of these guys. I'll take the one who is showing something now.

I see your point but CJ will be special. He simply has way too much talent not to be and he is a good character person. I will root for him in every game that he isn't playing the Packers.

At this point it appears that CJ has more potential. But don't forget, Steve Smith, TO, and DD all entered the NFL as non-marquee type expectations. No telling where Jones will end up.

At this point I would say TT is 3 for 3 on first day WRs.

Robert Meachem, Sidney Rice, Dwayne Jarrett

These were the guys available to the Pack in round one, and TT passed, much to the consternation of many. Me, I was a Dwayne Bowe guy.

But as it is turning out, TT found a rough gem in Jones, or so it appears at the moment. But it takes three years to really know, ya know. But for now, it's good.

He looks very poslished for a rookie. Looks like a very smart move by TT.

If you want a lot of receptions, you want to play for the Packers.

Maybe not to this extent, but I think a lot of us knew rookies would play a big role in the offense. There was no other option.

That is one of the reasons I do not understand all this wrath about Harrell. Very few rookies do much of anything in today's NFL. Those that do are typically forced into starting because the team has nothing else to work with at the position.

You have to give all rookies 2-3 years to develop before you can even consider making judgments on their potential and value.
