[quote="cheesner"]Barty Smith (?) Some of you older guys help me out - was that his name?

Yup, Barty Smith, back in the 1970s.

Don't forget Donny Anderson and Jim Grabowski from the late Lombardi-early Bengtson eras. Both could have been much better had they avoided injury. Then there's MacArthur Lane from the early 1970s. You might want to put Elijah Pitts on this list, too. And wasn't Johnny "Blood" McNally a RB too? But, the youngsters we have now have some promise--give 'em some time.

LeShon Johnson and DeMond Parker could compete for a spot on the roster. But not Travis Jervey.

Gado is averaging 2.6 yards/carry this year. He makes our RBs look like Adrian Peterson.
It's on only 18 carries; Gado averaged 4.1 in 2005 for GB & 4.0 in 2006 for Houston. Note: Ron Dayne is only averaging 2.9 on 62 carries this season for Houston. Furthermore; Ahman Green is only averaging 3.8 in 2007. I think the Houston OL leaves a lot to be desired - much like the Packers (sans pass protection). Gado is just as good as ANY current GB RB - there's no doubt in my mind.

Meh..I could care less who was better..The only thing that matters is the won-loss record!!

But hell, you could put Jesus Christ back there and he still wouldn't be able to run behind our line..Our pass blocking is better than decent, but our run blocking is absolutely horrible..I'm not saying our backs are special backs by any means, but it's tough to run when there are no holes to run through.

don't be so sure, He was very crafty. ever hear about the 7 fishes and 7 loaves? it's going to take a miracle to make that running work.

If Woodson got docked $5000 for wearing yellow-bottomed cleats, you can imagine the dim view that the league is going to take towards sandals.

John Brockington, MacArthur Lane I know these were brought up but I would say these were maybe one of our best 1,2 punch running tandem we ever had considering all the variables around them line and all the rest of the offense

When we moved to Georgia, Del Rodgers lived behind us. Great guy...only lived there about a year but my youngest son and his son were good friends and Dan was at their house a lot as was Del's son at ours. I remember him telling me that he never got used to the cold but that he never played for a team at any level with better fans. He was just amazed at all the people who came to practices and showed up for pre-season games. It boggled his mind.

Sorry...have to disagree. I realize the talent around Brockington/Lane wasn't anything special but I would still have to give the nod to Hornung and Taylor.

Of course I'm biased...I'm old and tend to gravitate to that era.
