you sure about that? harris' momentum took him through both legs and up ended AP. i'll look at the replay closer tonight.
im not *sure*, i'm not ap or a doctor... but before the hit even was made, i had a split second "oh shit, that's gonna hurt" thought in my head when i saw his knee buckle just moments before the hit.

I thought his foot was planted and Harris nailed him with the helmut but I could be wrong. It looked pretty bad, he kind of dodged a bullet there.

Rewound the good angle a few times to see. AD actually rose up a bit right at the point of contact and his left leg went back trying to avoid Harris's helmet. That left the right leg on tip toes and he took a helmet to the kneecap and it tweaked back.

If I was coming up on AD with a full head of steam I would try to put a shoulder into his thigh also. You go high on him and you look silly. Actually surprised Al didnt get his head dinged on the hit. A knee to the helmet at that speed cant feel great.

He did dodge a bullet and luckily so for all us Football fans.

Rastak, should I call Peterson AP or AD?

Initially, yes he did, but then he later apologized and admitted being in the wrong. Peeps just need to let it go. We're all guilty of making comments in the heat of the moment at times.... doesn't mean it reflects the kind of person we are.

Did you all send him flowers and get well card too?

LCL isn't a very important legiment, two weeks seems about right. As long as it isn't the ACL or the MCL he should be all right. I guess their are only 7 games left and the team only has three wins, if the Vikings lose the next two then I don't see a point in bringing him back unless they feel the experience could do him good. I would only bring him back if he was 100% and totally healed.

Man, I hope he is back soon. He enriches the NFL and I wish we had him on the Packers roster. He is a great citizen from his interviews, too.

                  I feel for you, Ras.
My whole family said "oh no" the second he grabbed his knee. I don't like seeing any player injured. We did the same the weak before with Larry Johnson and even though Johnson is an ass, we feel the same.

Remember when I was talking about "Vikings Fans" and you weren't one of the many Ras? Go look on a lot of boards and you will see how many are calling for teams to take Favre out at the knees over the "cheap shot" Harris gave Peterson. It was a clean hit and for a DB, the area they always drop their shoulder into. AP was just up a little higher then normal on the play. If that was a cheap hit then anytime you tackle someone at the legs it's a cheap hit.

Before he got hurt yesterday you could have called Adrian "Not Today" Peterson.

I think I have the right to bust you for copyright infringement, Mad. I believe "at some point during my belligerant harm wishing tirade", that I used the phrase Adrian "not today" Peterson. It probably got lost in the array of disturing comments that you may be familiar with: like, "hopefully it's his collar bone" or the joyless classic, "better yet, his neck!!!".

Yes, it may have gotten lost in all of that, but at some point I did also say something that could be construde, by normal people not named satan, as funny

I agree with this 100%. You've got Chester Taylor and Mawelde Moore. Think big picture, long-term. If the season gets more lost in the next couple of weeks, what's the point in bringing him back? Treat him like a young ace pitcher in baseball and shut him down. I know you have economic interests to think of, but don't trade short-term for longer-term interests.

I agree with everyone who said, thank goodness it wasn't worse. If you love the NFL and players, then you have to love what AP brings talent-wise, and those are the guys you want to see playing. You also want to see your guys vs. the best, and he looks like a bright star for years to come. BTW, if you don't know his story growing up, look it up. It's very compelling.

I think its still fair game.

It was clean. If Harris hit AP right on the leading knee, they might have an argument on it, but this was just football. Things happen when bodies go flying. I never got a close look at it, so I kept thinking 'How does he get a serious injury on that play?' At least it won't be that long before he is back.

I also don't think the hit on Favre's head was anything close to a cheap shot, the guy was trying to avoid hitting Brett too hard after he started the slide, and just happened to get his helmet. Again, that's football. The flag was fair, anything to a QB's head gets 15 yards.

As for sitting him the rest of the year, if he's healed, play him. Minn has a lot of work to do to get the offense into shape. They need to see what they have in real game situations, with all of their talent. Sure, they are going nowhere this year, but look what happened with the Packers and the 4 game win streak at the end of last year.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikings shut him down for the season. It probably depends on how the media blackout situation looks and how the locker room atmosphere is. If nobody's going to games, the team looks on the verge of imploding, and the season appears lost there's no reason to trot him back out there so the team gets a worse draft pick.

I know if I was a Vikings fan, I'd hope they sat him down, got a good draft pick, fired Childress, and started over next year. No need to put a lot of tread on his tire so the Vikings can go 8-8 instead of 6-10 or whatever.

Glad to hear it's not serious though.

Second time trying to post this, so I'll probably end up with a dp...

I think there's levels of being happy. I think JH (sorry to pick on you bud) went over the line a bit, but can any of us deny a bit of happiness when the opposing team's top playmaker goes down? Not wishing them career ending injuries or anything, but glad enough they're watching from the sidelines.

I know I gave a little cheer during the KC game when LJ went down. Not a 'good, he's hurt' cheer, more of a 'phew, don't have to worry about that anymore' kind of cheer. At that point, the outcome of the game was very much in doubt, and he was muderalizing us.
