bigby's gonna break the bank. i think he'll get at least $10m. We probably cannot afford him.
Nah. TT will finally succeed in his quest to drive Favre out of Green Bay so he can start Rodgers. With the 11 mil he'll save on the cap there, he'll be able to sign Bigby.

This is an uncalled for and ignorant stab at Vince (who thought signing Bigby would be a good move and you had a debate with).

You come out with your mea culpa, stating you don't know anything, yet you are enough of a scum bag to come here making these types of comments. . . .This is obviously sarcastic, and obvioulsy directed at people who wanted to resign Bigby. It's not that big of a deal, but you would think someone like you who doesn't get much right would have enough humilty to keep these remarks to himself.

Calm down, JH. We're just talking football, not war and peace.

Vince has been nothing but a decent, respectfull poster here. He once got in a spat wtih Packnut who was calling people blind and ignorant. I think any time you call people blind and stupid, you can expect a little backlash.

After someone comes on here and says people don't know what they are talking about (packnut), I thought it was refreshing to see someone (vince) bring up the last time he made those types of insulting, rude remarks and say "maybe you don't know quite as much as you think you know". RG took that as some sort of reason to attack Vince whenever possible (turns out Vince isn't wrong very often, so RG can only attack his bigby view).

Still, I find it pathetic to see the same posters who whine about other posters bringing up past conversations doing the same thing in their cowardly, passive aggressive ways. Of all people who should be using sarcastic, belittling tones, mister never right about anything shouldn't be anywhere near the top of that list.

While Bigby started out the season very strongly, he has been exposed in his pass defense the second half of the season. I still like his aggressive play. Also, considering this is his first real experience, I think he can improve and continue to be an asset to the team.

But what's relevant here is that I never once implied that Bigby should be resigned for anywhere in the ballpark of $10 million. This is nothing more RG's typical underhanded tactic of exaggerating someone's position in a dishonest attempt to ridicule it. As JH correctly said, his countless statements that have been incredibly wrong need no exaggeration to ridicule, if one were inclined to expose them.

What's more, his half-hearted apology for "being wrong" completely missed the point of what his transgression entailed. He should have apologized, not for being wrong (everyone is) but for the denigrating and dishonest way he ridiculed those who, rightfully, disagreed with him. Obviously, those underhanded tactics haven't stopped, apology or not.

Or, maybe he was just being a wiseguy/smartass. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, the same way we decided to give TT the benefit of the doubt.

And besides, everybody knows that vince wouldn't support giving Bigby a penny over $9M.

I think Bigby is an EFA anyway, since he only played in one game in 2005, which wouldn't count as an accrued season if I'm reading things right.

So we can probably get him for $9m....

Bigby for 9 mil? I would thinking subtract about 8 mil from that and we can lock him up. I would say throw 3 mil guaranteed and give him 5 years at 1 mil and he'll take it. No doubt.

Is no one else concerned that Grant is an UFA?

Nope. RB salaries have really come down in the last couple of years as a decade and a half of salary cap data showed that they decline as quick as any other player and except for the truly outstanding ones, they are easily replaceable.

I'm not saying I want to lose him, but his leverage might not be as high as we might envision after saving the rushing attack.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Funny, I was just going to ask this. Bigby has been a good find, but I think Rouse has shown enough flashes. We don't really have anyone behind Grant who has.

Even with RB salaries dropping, (unless he's an RFA) some GM's going to go after Grant.

Doesn't matter. If TT doesn't have him signed before FA starts, he has the cash available to keep him in town and not a lot of other players he has to concern himself with. And what other RB on the team could possibly be pissed about Grant getting a good deal?
