The other distinction is that between two college kids, the joking is consensual and mutual. In this office situation they were not.

Re: Male-Female Relationships
I thought you guys did away with that distinction when Bill Clinton turned the word "Lewinsky" into a verb. So you're okay with his impeachment now. Aren't you the capricious one!Originally posted by Tyrone Bigguns
As usual you try and compare two situations yet leave out the crucial distinction.
Two college roommates, be it same sex or opposite genders do not have a relationship in which one is noted as being the other's "superior."
If you can't see the distinction or realize the precarious position one is placed by having unwanted advances made by your boss then you are even more clueless than i previously suspected.

Re: Male-Female Relationships
You leaps of logic are astounding. 1) You have made an assumption about which "guys" i'm with. 2) That sexual harassment was part of the clinton impeachment. 3) That i was against the impeachment, but would be ok with it now. Wrong. I don't think that people's sex lives and questions about it should be grounds for impeachment. I leave impeachment for serious crimes...you know, like B&E...or prevaricating war under false pretenses.Originally posted by KiwonI thought you guys did away with that distinction when Bill Clinton turned the word "Lewinsky" into a verb. Try to follow along...the impeachment had nothing to do with sexual harassment.
I know it is tough for your simplistic, black and white mind, but there is little linkage between your comparison and clinton. But, leave it up to you "guys"..can't go a week without revisiting clinton.
Lastly, please don't use words you clearly don't understand.
If, after rougly 10 years, i changed my opionion on Clinton that wouldn't be capricious..you dolt. Capricious is SUDDEN, UNPREDICTABLE CHANGE. Or the tendency to change one's mind without seeming obvious or apparent reasons.
Neither of which fits this example.
Capricious would be if tonite i suddenly thought you were smart.
GAME, SET, MATCH.

TB, nobody's as smart as you.
Regale us once more with the history of transsexualism. You’ve got that memorized, right? Mad inadvertently deleted that thread.
Please enlighten us again why gender isn’t determined by biology. It must be rewarding work setting free those girls trapped in boys’ bodies.
Finally, let me say that it’s an honor to be insulted by a great mind like yours. I'm not worthy of your disdain.

Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as well as to the federal government.
Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.
Sexual harassment can occur in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to the following:
The victim as well as the harasser may be a woman or a man. The victim does not have to be of the opposite sex.
The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, an agent of the employer, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or a non-employee.
The victim does not have to be the person harassed but could be anyone affected by the offensive conduct.
Unlawful sexual harassment may occur without economic injury to or discharge of the victim.
The harasser's conduct must be unwelcome.
It is helpful for the victim to inform the harasser directly that the conduct is unwelcome and must stop. The victim should use any employer complaint mechanism or grievance system available.

Re: Male-Female Relationships
Doesn't seem like a tough distinction to make, K. In a professional atmosphere, you have to dress differently, speak differently (i.e. avoid cuss words) and treat people differently (i.e. leave sex out of it) than you do when you're "off duty", whether it's at home in a dorm room or at home anywhere else. If a husband and wife work in the same office, they're not allowed to fuck at work.Originally posted by KiwonSo I'm trying to get this straight, a male can have a female roommate, watch her dress and undress, joke around, whatever, but then years later if they happen to end up in the same office he could be sued and fired for making the same comments that he used to make when they shared a dorm room together?

Wonder if that's true for this forum. Do people act and talk differently then they do in person? :POriginally posted by the_idle_threat

Ohhhhhh wait.....nm
I'm looking at it from a sociological perspective. How can the poor hapless male know when to act like a boar and when not to and keep his butt out of jail?
Universities permitting co-ed dorm rooms and allowing a male student to experience his wildest adolescent fantasies don't really help him to know his boundaries.
The equal roommate stuff is garbage. Women always have dominance because the average 20-year old male allows her to. The appendage between his legs is constantly waging war with the good judgment residing in the deep recesses of his brain.
Ladies, men are victims and you know it. You are being insensitive.
(I'm at a vulnerable time in my life right now. Don't make fun of me.)
