If those college students had done the same to Mac or Palin..you'd be the first one posting about how atrocious it was...intolerant, hateful liberals.

But, for your guys..it is a prank.

Otown, you and I have gone over Christianity ad nauseam in the past. I know your position, you know mine.

And I’m too busy trying to explain Capitalism to Tex lately.
We have? What is my position on Christianity? I'd be curious to know.

Capitalism: You better hurry, since he is veering into the illuminati as being responsible...and from there it is just a short hop to american kristalnacht.

Tolerance and acceptance are NOT Christian concepts. Rather, conversion and belief of Biblical truth are. And "right from wrong" is VERY SELDOM what liberals think it is. Most on the left wouldn't recognize "right from wrong" if it leaped up and bit them in the ass.
What happened to following that dude that hung out with the tax collectors and the prostitute? You know the dude who talked about turning cheeks and casting the first stones and all that stuff??? I know I'm rusty, but I thought all that was in the Bible?
First of all, any remarks you make would have far more credibility if they weren't about a religion you profess to not believe in.

A favorite tactic of liberals/atheists/whatever is to take incidents involving Jesus out of context and try to twist those incidences around to justify wrongheaded positions.

What counts--what defines Christianity--is the sum total of Biblical truth, obviously including the teachings and behavioral examples of Jesus.

Hanging out with tax collectors and a prostitute: tolerance and acceptance, yes--but only if you define t and a as allowing sinners to be forgiven if/when convert to true belief and repent of their sins. As Howard said, this probably applies to the people exercising their freedom of expression. BTW, what commandment or teaching of Jesus is being broken by hanging an effigy of a politician anyway? Somebody feel free to answer that.

Turning cheeks: an order to individuals that in the absence of orders from God or the government, they should NOT respond with force to evils done to them. Why the government? I'm assuming Render Unto Caesar ..... takes precedence over "Turn the other cheek"--lest any America-haters try to turn this into some anti-war crap.

Not casting the first stone: An order to those who have committed sins--everybody--not to do physical harm to other sinners. This also is superseded by Render Unto Caesar ...., in case you might want to throw out the whole criminal justice system, and would seem to not be at all applicable to the Oregon situation.

As for Jesus, the Bible, Christianity, whatever, subscribing to some kind of "All men are created equal" approach (I'm not sure where that leaves women), a big no way to that. That would be Abraham Lincoln's pet concept.

The Bible is saturated with references to God's Chosen People, tribes or groups God dictates should be wiped out, etc.

True, this doesn't justify hatred or discrimination for reason of RACE, but then, where do we have any evidence of THAT in this case? All I see is a political statement--people exercising their FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION to disrespect an evil rotten politician with a track record of disrespecting the religion of those making that political statement. Anybody got evidence of anythng racial? I didn't think so.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

What a load of BS, Tex. Just because I no longer practice religion does not mean I wasn't trained in it nor does it suggest that I don't understand the way a Christian should be acting. I would expect that at a Christian school, acts of racial intolerance (and it is not the hanging of a political figure, but the racial overtones suggesting the historical hanging during the race riots--quit trying to change the context) would be considered wrong and spoken against (like say a certain dude did with some tax collectors).

I never spoke about the government as this has nothing to do with them. This has to do with societal norms within the Christian community. So you think veiled threats against others is ok for these Christian students. Somehow not the behaviour of the one you yourself suggested they should be emulating.

Thanks for proving my point. the Bible is the Old Testement and the New Testement put together.

Do we need to go over the Trinity again tonight?

For you..but, the quote is mine..and therefore I get to determine how i use it.

More importantly, who the fuck takes a South Park quote seriously?

Very funny, since the reference is from South Park, right? referring to Spock saying the line (in reference to his sacrifice for the Enterprise): "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one (not Obama)." That refers back to Luke 9:24 from the King James Bible (note 'Bible' includes the New Testament) where it is written: “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Now, of course, South Park has it all twisted around of course, but your quote refers directly to the New Testament of the Bible.

Right. Get back to me after you've read all the stuff that didn't make your Western Canon at the Council of Trent...just a mere 12 centuries later.
