Where the hell are all the 5870 video cards? Why did ATI even bother releasing hardware when they couldn't get the Chinese to make it for them?

ATI has a faster chip currently but their driver support is horrible. They release an update weekly at least.Originally posted by Freak OutWhere the hell are all the 5870 video cards? I bow to your tyranny.Originally posted by SkinBasketSpeaking of dorky things, I just tore down my CECHA01 PS3, replaced the PSU, and took apart the BR drive to remove a disc and reset the drive to "unloaded" status. Amazingly enough, it works now. Now it's off to ebay.

So you can't buy a 5870 because of chip shortages but they go ahead and release the 5970? Vaporware at it's finest. ATI driver support has always been dicey....I ran a 4870 for awhile and I hated the fact that you needed the control center, a driver loader or some such thing as well as the driver.Originally posted by ZoolATI has a faster chip currently but their driver support is horrible. You'll have graphics drivers that work, though. After all, the device is useless without drivers, and it is not worth it when you have to spend time fighting with it week after week installing updates.Originally posted by retailguyjust buy a mac. then your only choice will be apple. but you'll only be fighting with 8% of the market.

I'm going to buy a pro after they release the new chipset in 2010....prolly the 15 incher. I have a bunch of windows rigs already and I can write it off so why not spend a little extra.Originally posted by PartialYou'll have graphics drivers that work, though. Nice! You're going to love it! Hopefully they have the Quad chips in them instead of the dualies. Quad core MBP would be sweet!!Originally posted by Freak OutI'm going to buy a pro after they release the new chipset in 2010....prolly the 15 incher.
