What I struggle to understand is the constant need to challenge posters personally. Sticking to the argument at hand is far easier.

It's actually pretty easy. A lot of posters don't want to take the time to find supporting facts for their positions. It's much easier to call someone a name than try to deflect the truth that you have absolutely no proof of what you are saying.

Off topic is one problem. Disintegration is another. Let me demonstrate:
