When you posted this thread, it rubbed me wrong, but I couldn't figure it out.Originally posted by Partial View PostBump. Going the last week of August. Is there a nice play in the Caribbean that isn't outrageously hot at the end of August?
Today, it hit me. You're planning a vacation for you and your (soon to be) wife. Several suggestions were posted, to which you asked for "reasons for your answers so I can formulate..."
That's it. The "I" part. I can't believe it isn't "so WE can formulate".
Have you asked the (soon to be) missus, where SHE wants to go? That's your answer. Take her where SHE would like to go. Sadly, I think you'll tell her where she's going.

Aside from that, I think you might be thinking about partial more than is healthy."You're all very smart, and I'm very dumb." - Partial

Thanks RG. We have no opinion on the matter we're looking for insight.Originally posted by retailguy View PostWhen you posted this thread, it rubbed me wrong, but I couldn't figure it out.

Cheesey, what can you tell me that's awesome about WA! I've been to Washington before when I was like 10, so I don't remember much about it! Fill me in!! Thanks!

I just read on Facebook that a friend of mine booked a trip to the San Juans and whale watching. It sounds wonderful.Originally posted by Scott Campbell View PostTh ferry to Victoria. Agree. I have fond memories of my 10 years in Washington.Originally posted by Freak Out View PostThe west is the best.
Ok, Partial, here is a list of things to do.
1. If I could only do one thing, I would visit Mount St. Helens. I crossed the hill into the blast zone in 1996, almost 17 years after it erupted and will never forget it. We spent the weekend down there in Longview and had a great time. The drive out to the mountain along the Toutle river is spectacular, the park is very nice, with some nice visitors centers. I bought a CD at a souvenier shop as I exited the freeway, that walks you through things as you drive to the mountain. It was awesome. Lots of hiking trails too. A MUST see. You'll never forget it.
Mount St. Helens Information Resource Center: A collection of Links and information to lodging, restaurants, visitor centers, helicopter tours, permits, gifts, volcanocam, weather, hiking, at Mt. St. Helens Volcano & Forest Learning Center. Discover Mt St Helens !
2. Seattle Space Needle/Seattle Center - Typical tourist attraction, but you can see all of Metro Seattle from the top of it. The restaurant food is basic, not great, but the space needle spins very slowly so it offers great views of the city and Lake Washington, which is equally spectacular. There is an amusement part, called Fun Forest Amusement at the base of the space needle. More geared towards kids, but fun to walk through.
Seattle's #1 most iconic view. Rise 605 ft. above the city as you lean out on floor-to-forever glass. If you see only one thing, see everything!
3. Paul Allen's Experience Music Project - I think it's right there at Seattle Center, but truthfully have never been inside. It gets good reviews, just not my cup of tea.
4. Museum of Flight - Haven't been here either, but fun nonetheless.
5. Boeing in Everett - I believe they still give tours of the production facility there. It's a fantastic tour, you'll love it.
6. Pike Place market - Again a touristy attraction, I went once. When else will you see fish mongers throwing fresh salmon across the room to each other? Gotta see it once. Great seafood there too, btw, plus the expected touristy shops.
Pike Place Market is Seattle’s original farmers market and the center of locally sourced, artisan and specialty foods. Visit today.
7. Safeco Field - They give tours. The park is really nice, and worth your time visiting. since the mariners suck you can readily get tickets, it's a fun enjoyable way to watch a game too.
8. Washington Park Arboretum - If you like to walk you'll love it. Spectacular and well maintained and located along the shores of Lake Washington. Part of the University of Washington Botanical Gardens.
9. Alki Beach Park - Located in the chic West Seattle neighborhood, it offers spectacular sunsets over the Olympic Mountains, and it is where "anyone who is anyone" hangs out at the beach. I went once, found it beautiful, but too crowed for me. You'll probably love it.
10. Seattle Waterfront - I guess I'd be remiss if I failed to mention it. Again, I went once, but I've been to the pier in San Francisco, and it doesn't compare.... But, I think Daniels Broiler is down there somewhere, and offers fairly good seafood (if you are into a chain like atmosphere).
Personally, I wouldn't spend a lot of time in Seattle, though there is lots to do. I lived Northwest of Seattle, so I'm partial to that, but hey, that's what I'm familiar with.
11. - Take a ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor - The San Juan islands are spectacular any time of the year, and the ferry ride is remarkable. You can take your car, or just walk on, your choice. You can drive on the Island, but not a bunch to see outside of Friday Harbor. It's a nice little town, with the common tourist shops, and good food. It's a good afternoon there.
12. Deception Pass State Park - This is my "home away from home". I love Deception Pass. I used to drive across it everyday, and is one of the most majestic sites I've ever seen in the world. I understand that there is now a charter company giving tours of the pass, but I was long gone before they started. Drive to Deception pass, it's my #2 "can't miss it" thing to do. You can camp and hike in the park. I guess you could swim too, but the Pacific is really cold.
13. Washington Park in Anacortes - Spectacular park right on the water. I could see the park and the marina from my deck. It's a lot of fun, and a nice couple mile walk through nature in the park itself.
14. Whale Watching in Anacortes - Two companies, I've been on both, they are both good. Mystic sea charters & Island Adventures.
Discover how tech-driven healthcare innovations in Brisbane, Australia, transform patient care through AI, telemedicine, and advanced CPAP technologies, with a focus on user satisfaction.
15. Chuckanut Drive to Bellingham - You can get off highway 5 at Burlington and take Chuckanut drive up there, it winds along the water, and offers a neat experience.
16. Bellingham has a neat park called Whatcom Falls Park - As parks go, you'll enjoy yourself. We used to go here quite a bit to enjoy an afternoon.
Amenities Hours 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Directions Whatcom Falls Park is located at 1401 Electric Avenue in the Whatcom Falls Neighborhood. There are two entrances to Whatcom Falls Park. To access the sports field and upper playground, use the entrance at 1401 Electric Ave. To access the picnic shelters, fish hatchery, lower playground, ... Read more
17. Kayak Rentals in Bellingham - Lots of fun, not for the weary though! I did it once, would do it again.
Discover vibrant experiences in Manchester's Northern Quarter, blending tradition, innovation, and tech-driven adventures for unforgettable memories beyond everyday routines and transformative personal growth.
18. Mount Baker State Park - You could walk your life away here and never see anything you wouldn't call breathtaking.
The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington State extends more than 140 miles along the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains from the Canadian border to the northern boundary of Mt. Rainier National Park.
I could go on, but this is probably enough for two vacations, and, we haven't left the western part of the state yet!
