I don't want this. I don't think this part of it is a big deal. I want to know

1) Is it harder to ban someone who has multiple accounts than someone with one account?
2) Who is actually bothered by someone with multiple accounts, if they are friendly and/or clever? If you are bothered by this, are you bothered by the fact that multiple people could be commenting using the same login?
3) Why do you assume that people with multiple logins will be nasty? I think I could be pretty naive here - maybe most if not all of multiple login people are nasty (except Smirking Revenge)

Finally, I'm not interested in changing the rule, I was just curious about the above stuff and about arguing things I see as being logical inconsistencies. Maybe the Packers just look so lousy that I'm not all that interested in arguing whether one pile of crap (Boerigter) is better than another pile of crap (Gardner).

LOL. OK, I'll let it go. I did give one example. If I knew how to make multiple logins, and it wasn't banned, I would have made a "Cliff Cristl" login to give my crusty opinions in the guise of 'ole cliffy. Also, I liked that John Holmes thread on the JSO, and probably it wouldn't have been as much fun had I known it was tank. But I'm probably giving tank too much credit for that, considering all the other lame threads he's come up with (Ted in the closet chapters 1-12 come to mind).

I understand your logic as to why you want question the rationale behind the decision and your fustration with the "its the rules just deal with it" response".

I look at it this way. The on-line persona that you create when you join packerrats constitutes a singular identity, unique unto you. This makes that one person directly accountable for things that they would write, to the admins and to all of us as a community.

With multiple logins somebody can circumvent that idea by becoming somebody else. No accountability and no control for the admin (which has been proven we need).

At JSO, where multiple ID's were possible, this was used to create the worst scenario (for me). Somebody was able to post private real-life informatrion about another poster on the web. This breach of ettiqutte is just wrong.

There were people hi-jacking other logins/ID's and talking insane trash. In this space i'm "pacfan", and I'm confident I can embarrass myself with my own spelling errors and foolish ideas all by myself. This ID theft happened to a number of people here (at JSO) and it became confusing who was saying what about who and we lurkers have to know who saying what in order to track the conversation.

I think the rules are just fine. one-for-one ensures that harv is harv, that partial is partial, and that ballhawk is the 13 year old kid with cool sense of humor.

I don't see a need for multiple accounts, if you want to show different sides of your personality in this place, then go ahead. Just use your own ID.
