Evidently MIT is developing a shitter that is constantly monitoring your feces and urine and will spit out health information to you. I think that is something useful; not as cool as Partial's gadgets, but useful nonetheless.
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

Useful perhaps but clearly not relevant for this thread! You would need to show how the information enhancement relies on augmented reality. For example, maybe the information could be delivered in the form of a talking turd that would deliver the good (or bad) health news, maybe modeled on Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo from South Park.

That's a good point. That'd make it a more useful shit analyzer.

The "toys" that engineers play with on weekends are what becomes mainstream products we all use in 5 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For some reason, the craft beer toothpaste I was working on in my basement 5 years ago never took off.

It is if you can use it to determine if your 300lb Aunt Bertha would fit into your antique chair without reducing it to splinters. I think that is where this AR is going: augment the furniture into the room and augment the hippo into the love seat.
