maybe a laptop

I also always like to get a hard drive or some kind of storage. Also a good time to pick up blank DVDs or CDs.

The Toshiba laptop looks outstanding for $229 and includes a Canon Printer. (looks like hand to hand combat for that deal).

For those looking for an internal HD deal they have Seagate 160 GB Ultra ATA for $49!

For me, I am doing most of my shopping online. Need to get an iPod Shuffle for my daughter. Probably will get to Apple.com's online sale at 2:01 am CT (midnight pacific) for their Black Friday sale.

Looking for a deal on some nice stereo headphones to hook up to my Mac or some decent desktop speakers. Listening on the thrift store speakers I've got now just sucks.

As for Black Friday itself, it takes a certain breed to stand in line at Oh-dark-hundred with 500 other people in line. You can get some freakin' nutty deals if you're willing to get there early enough. I did that with my wife for a few years when we first got married. NEVER AGAIN!! Seeing people fight over stuff, butting in lines and downright idiocy was enough for me to stop going.

Working 2 jobs means little time for that anyway. Online shopping works for me!

SCORED A BLACK FRIDAY DEAL!

Went to the Apple Store website and got $11 off an iPod Shuffle for my daughter. FREE shipping and free laser engraving to boot. ($69 versus $79 everywhere else in the brick/mortar stores)

She knew she was getting it so we let her pick out the color. She picked the Product Red version so part of the proceeds goes towards AIDS relief in Africa also.

And I didn't have to wait in line for it

One guy wanted the $229 laptop at Bestbuy in Appleton so bad, he skipped his turkey dinner AND the Packer game to get it. Admire his dedication to saving money, but skip the Packer game?? That's borderline insanity!!

Retailers Gear Up for Cyber Monday

Almost three-quarters of Internet retailers will offer special deals on Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday online shopping season, a National Retail Federation survey out today shows.

The survey of 116 retailers found 72% plan special offers. Only 43% featured similar offers two years ago, when the Monday after Thanksgiving was dubbed Cyber Monday.

"It began in 2005, and it caught some people by surprise," says Scott Silverman, executive director of NRF's Shop.org, which released the study. "Last year some online retailers were still on the sidelines, but I think all the doubts are gone."

Shoppers - often scouring the Internet from office computers during lunch breaks or when they're supposed to be working - are getting wise about looking for great deals.

Gifts.com, which provides information about online sales, says its Cyber Monday visitors more than tripled last year from 2005.

Next Monday, about a third of Internet stores will offer special e-mail campaigns and almost 30% will have one-day sales, NRF says. Many retailers also will launch free shipping for the holiday season that day.

Cyber Monday isn't the No. 1 online shopping day, but retailers still compete hard for customers.

"We're really pushing it this year because we saw the success of last year," says Pinny Gniwisch, founder of Ice.com, an online jeweler.

This year retailers also want to hook shoppers sooner because they are worried a weak economy may dampen sales.

"Retailers are so worried about people being very thrifty this Christmas and spending less than last year," says Daniel de Grandpre, editor of dealnews.com.

The site reports the best deals on computers, technology and gadgets.

Even though Cyber Monday is considered the start of online holiday shopping, some will also start pushing online sales on Thanksgiving Day, de Grandpre says.

The only thing I was really after was the Surround sound and some of the things will be Xmas gift but I only spent around $500 for all this shit so it wasnt too bad.

If you'd seen the condition of the old shoes, and heard the whining about shoe shopping, you'd understand why I wasn't more persistent in my quest for a bargain. And $40 was my limit. Hopefully they will last him a while.
