I remember Suck For Luck. Is there a college player of that stature this year?

Tua

Tua is no Andy Luck. Wouldn’t it just be hilarious if the top pick pulls an Eli and says he’ll no to Miami?? LOL. All that tanking and for what? Next year is the year to tank.

Good game at Atlanta but it took a half to get going.

Nelson Agholor dropped a TD pass down the sideline after the Falcons took the lead late.

Agholor gets behind a safety and puts Philly in close enough (red zone) for throws to endzone on 4th and 14.

Cleveland and the Jets is not a good game. Jets down to their 3rd string QB.

Mike Tannenbaum apparently called in a note to say they had this third stringer in Miami and liked him. Had trouble getting the ball outside the numbers or deep. But they liked his leadership.

Stupid of course. But It’s like they need all the snaps they can get. Their offense looks awful. Jets played a lot of dime and Baker can’t find the open guy before their poor O line yields pressure.

Willaims can build confusing pressures. Maybe his coverage has gotten confusing as well. Except for letting OBJ get a free release against a safety-ILB short zone.

How far has MNF fallen that we have the announcers we have? Some of the points they made were ridiculous and made no sense. They kept harping on how when the 3rd string QB for the Jets came in how it jolted the team alive and gave them a spark. I think Booger even said something like "he ignites the team cause they know he knows this offense." And the 2nd string guy who practiced all week didn't? The team was flat for the 2nd string QB?

Not to mention, the spark they were talking about was 4 or 5 straight run plays which any QB in the league can handle, and is exactly what you would expect a 3rd string QB be called upon to do for his first drive. It's not like he came in the game and was slinging passes around and throwing dimes for TDs.

I agree to a degree with channtheman. I miss Pat Summerall, Curt Gowdy, Frank Gifford, and others. As for the current crop, Tony Romo gets my #1 vote. Al Michaels is very professional, but Cris Collinsworth dampens the broadcast.

I've liked it in the past when celebrities would visit the broadcast booth (on the air). It would be great if Tom Hanks or Kevin Costner or Darell "the rock" Johnson would visit a prime Sunday late game broadcast booth. No politicians, preachers, or convicted criminals would be appreciated. Beauty Pageant Winners? Hell Yeah !!!

That was a bad bad bad call and cost them the game.

Terrible call, but they still were in a position to win the game. A few seconds later, all Broncos had to do was stop the Bears on 4th and 15 and couldn't do it. The call kept the Bears alive, but didn't hand them the game.

There's also the question of whether this was a horrible call or a horrible rule.

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/roughing-the-passer/

When tackling a passer who is in a defenseless posture (e.g., during or just after throwing a pass), a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down or land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to wrap up the passer with the defensive player’s arms and not land on the passer with all or most of his body weight.

mraynrand
09-17-2019, 05:42 PM
It’s a judgment call. But I don’t think the defender put all or most of his weight. Also got a generous TO at the end.

Tennessee has no idea that the most important plays in football are drive starters. They love getting three yards to open a drive. 24 most important plays. Start of drive on offense and defense. 12 drives per game

Even though this is basically an argument for passing, its still stupid.

Giants rookie Daniel Jones is just the second player in NFL history to throw for 300+ yards with 2+ pass TDs and 2+ rushing TDs in his first NFL start as he did in beating the Bucs today. The first? Well, it's Eric Hipple, who did that with the Lions in a 1981 win vs. the Bears.

Bodes well for the rest of the NFC East.

BUM CHILLUPS @edsbs
Eric Hipple is best known for being on the wrong end of this hit, which would have made me walk off the field and quit the stupid game of football forever.

Just got Done watching philly/Detroit. Two weeks in a row, turnovers hurt philly. Last week Wentz threw picks, looked out of sync with the replacement receivers. This week it was fumbles. Their run game is pedestrian. If Jeffrey and Jackson are out, I think they’ll get beat up by the Packers defense. They have a chance of both guys come back, but I doubt they will.

The Saints play calling vs Seahawks was ultra conservative. Average air yards per completion: 1.8 yards, lowest in the league. Creative screen game (featuring Kamara) was the key to their success. It will be interesting to see if they open it up once opponents adjust.

Sometimes you get ultra conservative and the 2 ST touchdowns validate the strategy.

mraynrand
09-23-2019, 09:10 AM
^^^ You play the game in front of you. If your ST and defense keep making plays and Kamara is beasting, there’s no reason to risk TOs/FP killing sacks by airing the ball out in that kind of road environment.

Most teams can't do that without a halftime.

Bridge over Teddy Waters wasn’t ready for a free form whole offense exploration in the toughest road venue. If they don’t get those ST, defensive and Kumara successes they lose by two TDs, lick their wounds and get ready for next week. I don’t think they had any plan b. So the strategy wasn’t so much ‘validated’ as ‘gotten away with.’ But the guys who made it happen still deserve their props.

Every screen pass thrown with perfect touch
Every pass thrown in perfect balance
The pace is fast and furious
Calmly throws it away to fight another day when it’s not there
Every play action is convincing

Just all the little things that bore the great Aaron, Tom does with passion.

Bad plays that get blown up.... Brady just calmly handles it, doesn’t get pissed at the play caller. Understands it’s football and sometimes that happens.

Very few, almost no audibles at the line. Allows his guys the simplicity of just lining up and playing hard instead of overthinking every play.

It’s the same Brady year after year. But it’s the ultimate winning formula of keeping it simple and doing all the regular things at an exceptional level. I’m a fan.

Aw, APB, you're making me feel like the Charles Barkley of role models hahahahaha.

Let me attempt to set you straight on Biblical Christianity. The Bible says do not take God's name in vain. Maybe somebody could dig up a very few exceptions, but I try to comply with that. I assume even you really mean it when you say crap like "Jesus was a liberal" - I suppose it ain't blasphemy if you really believe it hahahaha. The Bible doesn't say shit about "don't say fuck" or "don't say shit" for that matter. It of course, has a lot to say about fornicating, but nothing on talking about it or slangily shortening the word. Perhaps somebody might call me on say "God damn" this or that political or sports entity. Well, I would argue that I am not taking God's name in vain because I'm really calling for God to damn those evil entities to hell.

Man the noise in the Superdome has to be worth 10 points at least.

Regardless, there's no way the Packers hold Dallas to under 21. They just don't have the run stopping defense the Saints have. I think the Packers can throw around the LBs if Adams can go. If they have to work the middle of the field, they're finished against that D line and LBs.

That's what I'd expect from Brees at home. Packers on the road without Adams is a problem. It's mostly a match-up deal. A hobbled Smith will certainly help the Packers, but will it be enough to tip the balance their way against their weakness (run defense). Plus the Packers don't have an All-pro gadget guy like Hill to sustain drives.

Troy: "You know Joe, I always say a receiving corps is no better than it's third receiver..."

Preseason ranking
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2837387-ranking-every-nfl-receiving-corps-heading-into-the-2019-season#slide19

19. Dallas Cowboys

Ron Jenkins/Associated Press
Receivers: Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Randall Cobb, Tavon Austin, Allen Hurns, Noah Brown, Cedrick Wilson, Reggie Davis, Jalen Guyton, Jon'Vea Johnson, Lance Lenoir Jr., Devin Smith

Tight Ends: Jason Witten, Dalton Schultz, Blake Jarwin, Rico Gathers, Codey McElroy

The Dallas Cowboys offense looks vastly different today than it did at the start of the 2018 campaign.

First, the organization's midseason decision to trade a first-round pick for Cooper paid major dividends since 725 of the receiver's 1,005 yards came with the Cowboys. The 24-year-old wideout provides the offense with the true No. 1 target owner Jerry Jones desperately wanted after Dez Bryant's downturn.

Second, Witten returns to the field after a year in the Monday Night Football booth. Yes, the tight end is 37 years old, but he understands the game and should be able to find soft spots in zone coverage.

"The work that he's done in the weight room in the off-season program has been outstanding," head coach Jason Garrett said of Witten, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence E. Hill, Jr. "His testing numbers and all of that are what they've been or even better."

Dallas also hopes Gallup will continue to progress, Cobb still has something left and one of the tight ends can effectively spell Witten.

15. Green Bay Packers

Seth Wenig/Associated Press
Receivers: Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, Trevor Davis, J'Mon Moore, Jake Kumerow, Jawill Davis, Allen Lazard, Teo Redding, Darrius Shepherd

Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan, Evan Baylis, Davis Koppenhaver

Personnel shuffling almost always ensues when a new coach implements a different system.

For the Green Bay Packers, Adams will remain the scheme's top option under new head coach Matt LaFleur. The 26-year-old wide receiver is a two-time Pro Bowl performer coming off of a 1,386-yard campaign. Other roles haven't been determined—specifically slot receiver after Randall Cobb's departure.

"They can be [interchangeable]," LaFleur said, per the Wisconsin State Journal's Tom Oates. "I think it's, are you asking the guy to run a choice route or are you asking him to take the top off and run a vertical route? That's why I think it's important to assemble your receiving corps similar to how you would a basketball team."

Allison, Valdes-Scantling, St. Brown, Davis and Moore all have a chance to expand their roles. If the team's young wide receivers don't respond, quarterback Aaron Rodgers can always throw to the 32-year-old Graham.

Jones has a really natural throwing motion. Quick release. Big arm. Elite arm talent. And he’s mobile. He’s got a shot for sure. The mental makeup and drive to be great is the question. If he has it, he could be elite.

I'm thinking he'll be pretty good.

Throws well off platform too. Physically he’s got it all

Burns with a TD. Winovich with his 4th sack. Gary douching has vag in locker room.

Akiem Hicks breaking his arm might cost Nagy his job. It’s that bad out there.

Chase Daniels having a job and not Kaepernick is a deep wound to meritocracy.

Yep. Bears defense on skates versus run.

Bears offense it’s normal going backward and sideways self.

That's true, but it is a tribute to being a stupid fuck to your employers and what happens when you do. Bad business is bad business.

Gary might be spatially retarded. He got chip blocked 7 yards out of a play last week by a TE. I’ve never seen that in 30 years of football.

It’s hard for me to fathom why a 280 pound man with ungodly strength would literally run away from a 250 pound would be blocker. I keep racking my brain trying to understand Gary, but I can’t. He’s retarded. I’m convinced.

Hopefully he watched some Reggie tape during the mini-bye.

So if there had been a rule, what would the default penalty be? Fine? 1 game?

This now is owners just being afraid of standing up.

Dude, if you actively alienated your customers you'd be instantly fired from your job.....

Show me the lack of customers from that year. Barely made a blip. Trends did not change.

They were avoiding headlines.
