I live in metro Atlanta, and can assure you the team and the fanbase had their spirit and pyche completely broken that day. It's weird that collapse and the fallout did give me some comfort. I really didn't think anything could top the choke in Seattle. Falcons said "hold my beer".

Vikes look tough for sure. Cousins twice the QB that Turdbisky is. Our secondary’s first real test. Thielen and Diggs savvy as fuck. Cook is a great runner and Cousins is incredibly accurate. I will say I attended a Viking Bears game at Soldier Field sort of through work and the dudes I was partying with were awesome. They love their team like we love ours. I also tailgaited with some Bears fans in Minneapolis and had some beers with them and we had some cool football conversations.
My two questions to them were the following.
1) Who was the greatest Bear running back, Gayle Sayers or Walter Payton. I said Sayers and it was mixed.
2) Who was/is the greatest Bears linebacker, Butkus or Erlacher. We all agreed Butkus.
Erlacher was still playing then.

I too was hoping for T.J.Hockenson or his Iowa teammate Noah Fant. The Lions and the Broncos got good blue chip college TEs. Hockensen may be the better player now, but Fant made the Broncos 53 man roster. I cant get excited over their new pro QB's, but sometimes talent does shine through
I never like it when any 1st or 2nd round draft picks are used to gamble on a "project" like Rashan Gary. IMO, projects should be restricted to 5th or later round picks. Undrafted Free Agents can be projects too.

It's hard to say what "declining franchise" means, but they certainly aren't near the team the Cowboys are. I suspect nobody in the East is.

not sure what's going on but NE seems to be moving down the field at will, and just after someone said Brady wasn't throwing deep he hits a long one that goes for a TD.
What I saw:
NE established the run against a defense geared to stop their passing attack. Then they gutted Pittsburgh’s with play action and deliberately going after the rookie MLB, who was confused and picked a lot. patriots’ picks are subtle and sublime.
Brady and guys like Edelman are always and absolutely on point. The O line blocking was dominant. What else needs to be said?
Oh, Pittsburgh’s offense is a tire fire without Bell and Brown. It sucks when you can’t run the ball and your WRs cant get open.

Problem with our usual offense is we leave huge chunks of the field that we just don’t attack. I don’t understand why any team would want that rigid of tendencies. Makes defense easier for sure.
They were attacking them. Rodgers just couldn't complete them. Oddly, he was better in the middle of the field with Graham and RBs. but on outs and flats it was bad.

Yep. Already spent $$$ on a TE and then we’re able to draft an injury prone TE in the fourth. Packers are set at TE. Even Lewis, that old 300TD model, looks invigorated.
Gary and Sternberger set the Pack up for the future.

Gary looked good in his very limited snaps. A stunt that showed his speed and another where he bulled over an OG like he was a rookie TE. So Gary definitely showed some NFL mettle. And I’m committed to what I saw on the Michigan tape. But still, that preseason made me second guess what I saw. We need Gary to plow a couple more mother fuckers over in the coming weeks so we can know it’s real. Clark already had the guy off balance when Gary launched him.

No that's not the issue for me. The issue is he should have made the roster because he's a talented, versatile football player. I've made that clear. You belittle gadget plays as if when Hill runs for 8 yards it's worth less than an 8 yard pass. Or if he catches a TD it's not valuable to his team.
So yeah if he scores TDs for a playoff caliber team it's understandably frustrating to fans. It's not like this offense has been setting the world on fire without him.

That was not my recollection of the conversation about backup QBs, but I do recall saying I don’t care about the bottom of the roster when the top is a disaster. There are a million plays and gadgets you can design with guys other than Hill to do the same thing. But again, other than the backup QB question, I don’t care much. Certainly you did to make some sort of poke at the forum. Maybe someone else cares about bottom of roster gadget stuff or third string QBs who throws their body around a couple of times for 8 yards. Right, rare occasions and preseason games. Now, there's policy if there's lightning within a certain distance of the stadium (I guess 8 miles) the game is automatically suspended for 30 minutes. And if there should happen to be lightning say six miles away at the 28 minute mark of the delay, then delay clock is reset for 30 additional minutes. Wash, rinse, repeat. Ridiculous.

I just can't wait for the day we get screwed over b/c we lost momentum due to long delay or say the game was deemed to have been played long enough for an official result, with the Packers losing 17-16 early in the 4th quarter. That day is coming.

I know about the 8 mile radius rule but I'm pretty sure the minimum is only 10 minutes. When the strike happens, the weather terrorists let the NFL know roughly how long they anticipate the lightning continuing in the area. That's what the delay is based on. I know that high school sports and the NCAA use the 30 minute rule.

His body language on the field is awful. I think he’s so untouchable that there’s no one to tell him to buck up. He is legitimately hurt and hurting but he’s clearly also playing the ‘poor me’ deal for all it’s worth so that it’s actually impossible to tell what dysfunction is due to physical problems and what is due to mental issues. Rodgers’ mental issues probably involve some element of “If I don’t perform up to snuff what are they gonna go, put Boyle in there? lol”

Perhaps. He's always looked like whatever emotion he is currently having plastered in large letters on his forehead.
But he is also literally at twice the hits that any other quarterback has taken on runs (Young, Vick, Cunningham, couple of others) so I buy he is feeling the effects. He also came back quickly from a foot problem in camp and that isn't helping.
Cam also gets fewer calls than Rodgers with pressure, Vita Vea hit him in the head and no flag. Cam might be the last player to help keep the flag in the pockets of the rest.

Refs completely screw the Saints again. Goff fumbled and Jordan returns it for a TD. They blew the play dead and called it incomplete. Was reviewed and overturned giving the Saints the ball at their own 12 yd line and taking away the TD.

Bears just lost a pic six by Fuller because the numbnuts line judge though he knee was down, but the field level end zone camera showed it wasn't really close to down. Ref blew it dead.

The calls against Clay last year look justified compared to the one against the Broncos.
And the Bears were given a second to win it.

Wow. I hate to see the Bears win - they still suck regardless, but I said Trubisky was decent.

On the other hand, Flacco looks Cutler-esque.

"The Saints are on the short end of another call yet again... How many times can this happen to the
@Saints. Unbelievable." - Joe @Buck
Its happened twice Joe. Its very believable. This one happened before the half, so it didn't end a tie 3-3 game.

Wow, interesting for sure.
It would serve them right to tank like this and still lose the top pick to the Giants.

Mitchell Trubisky didn't complete a pass further than 10 yards past the line of scrimmage until the final throw to Allen Robinson

I remember Suck For Luck. Is there a college player of that stature this year?
