      To prevent you from winning.
So - you hold a team to 84 yards in the 1st half -- and then play 4 down and lots of nickle/zone. I'm obviously not a coach - but never understood why you'd stop what's been working.

      • SAnders does not pay attention to the game much. Hasselbeck is easily rattled by pressure up the middle, and he still has not applied any.

Big break on the dropped pass. Wake up safeties.

        • Great job holding them to a FG defense.

We need a nice time consuming TD drive here to close the door on Seattle. If they don't at least cross midfield here they keep Seattle alive.

Prevent defenses are geared almost exclusively towards stopping an extremely long pass. They are frequently used in obvious passing situations, such as a third-and-very-long situation, or to prevent a long score on the last play of a half, or when the defense believes that the offense must pass (for example, if the offense is trailing late in a game). Otherwise the prevent is almost never used. The defense trades size for speed, and tries to ensure that no receiver can get behind the defense. A prevent defense backs up the coverage so far that it will often give up long yardage, but it makes scoring a touchdown in a single play very difficult.

It was the "smarter than me" comment that got me to respond.
So - is wiki smarter than me? 35-6 would be a lot better than 35-20.

Remember that 2 TD lead that evaporated........ why let a team back in it?

that's why we started playing soft on D...so they'd eat up their own clock-time. pretty smart plan by MM.

OUr D needs a rest. I would like to order up a 9 minute, 20 play TD drive for the Pack please. Heavy doses of Grant, but TD to Bubba. Thanks.

I have no problem with showing dime/nickel if you still attack from it. Sitting back in zone is just as bad as prevent no matter whar formation you use,
