ESPN REPORTS IT'S A DONE DEAL--GOOD LUCK TO THE LEGEND
I grew up with Favre. My first memory was the run against Atlanta. I was but a wee lad then, and was watching the game in my basement with my Dad.
I cannot believe that the all-time great Packer will play for another franchise. I'm in shock over the reality finality of it all.
What a sad day to live in Wisconsin and be a Packer fan. I thought we were better than this. Evidently not.
The fact that all you have known is Favre explains a lot, in my opinion, about your over-emotional response to this situation. It has happened many times in the past and will happen with home-team heroes in the future. That's just the way it is in professional sports.
Ironically, it often seems that the former team gets the better end of the deal when an aged star is traded. Not always, but often.

Patler,
I simply value respect, integrity, and commitment. Favre gave this team EVERYTHING and who knows where they'd be without him. They should have been the bigger person and been more fair. Brett Favre was treated like crap,. While he acted like an idiot, a bigger person who have realized all he has done and strived to accomodate him regardless.
Ted Thompson has been right on personnel moves most of the time, so he gets a certain benefit of the doubt. However, some decisions are more important than others. If Justin Harrell is a bust, it's a setback, but not a huge deal. He better be right about Rodgers though. If he's wrong, Lambeau will be an ugly place.
By the way Partial, I was in the upper deck at County Stadium for the Atlanta game. Definitely one of his greatest moments.
I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen
While sitting in the bar tonight, it was a surreal experience to see the breaking news hit ESPN. Man, what a sad day. While watching the top 10 Favre moments, I just about shed a tear, knowing how we treated such a great player so poorly. I grew up with Favre. My first memory was the run against Atlanta. I was but a wee lad then, and was watching the game in my basement with my Dad.
I've been around a lot longer. I've seen good (Dickey), bad (Wright and many others), average (Majik Man), and great (Favre). The problem with those teams is that when we had a lights out offense (Dickey QB's some of the best offenses in the league with Lofton, Jefferson, Coffman, Ellis, and Ivery), we had horrific defenses. That shouldn't be a problem for Rodgers.
He had a great season, but let's be honest:
Playoff 2 - okay in the first half; horrific in the second half
Playoff 1 - great
Week 17 - barely played in a meaningless game against a team that was ready to roll over (a team that gave up the most points in the NFL).
Week 16 - horrific
Week 15 - Set the record, but was far from lights out (2 ints) against a terrible defense (only Detroit gave up more points).
Week 14 - Considering they gave up 398 points last year (6th worst), I wouldn't call Oakland's defense very good.
Week 13 - horrific
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson
I think TT has/will build one heck of a team, he seems to be a pretty damn good talent evaluator and knows who will fit with the Packers....he seems to have put most of the pieces in place and I hope he brings us many SBs in the future.
But I still have to say fuck you Ted.
..and who was putting Dickey down? Fucking idiot.....

That was me. In my head I was trying to put Randy White caliber but it didnt come out.

Meh, TT has 2 chances at QB to get it right. If Rodgers fails and Brohm succeeds, TT still wins. Odds of finding a good one are better with 2 highly rated prospects on the roster (as I mentioned earlier). We will be fine.
Chuck Norris doesn't cut his grass, he just stares at it and dares it to grow

It was a mutual decision. And ultimately, Mike McCarthy made the call. Not Ted Thompson.

Assuming it turns out to be true, a big HELL NO to the Good Luck thing.
It's all about the PACKERS not some individual who used to be on our side. The only way I root for him is if it gets us a higher pick according to the trade terms.
Fuck you tex. This shit coming from some asshole that roots for the Cowboys. Get this prick outta here!
Gosh he's really gone; plenty of my life has been ranting, raving, or telling stories about him
Fights with the ignorant in-laws about how he'll turn out in his early years
My drunken wife getting kicked out of a Milwaukee bar for cussing him out while standing on a bar stool after he refused to sign an autograph for me on her bachelorette party...P.S. she puked after getting thrown out of the bar
Meeting him and getting his autograph two days before he was on ESPN admitting his addiction to Vicoden
And watching him the past 16 years
WOW
When you met him, did you tell him that story about your wife?
The deal is for a 4th rounder now - even if Brett re-retires.
If Favre plays 50% of the snaps in '08, it's a 3rd rounder.
If Favre plays 70% of the snaps in '08 and the Jets make the playoffs, it's a 2nd rounder.
If Favre plays 80% of the snaps in '08 and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it's a 1st rounder.
Basically, it seems most likely that the Packers get a 3rd rounder or late 2nd rounder at best...
Which, in the end, IS GREAT!!! This has been a fiasco of epic proportions, but given how this has played out, this end result is the best possible scenario for the Packers.
This is GREAT. I can root for Brett! Good luck Brett!!! This also means Jeff Garcia isn't freed up to go to Tampa Bay or Chicago. Not that he's great, but an upgrade for those teams.
Let's see how much "regular guy" Brett enjoys the fickle fan base of the Big Apple.
Watch out for the boos ........and snowballs.
Brett's been a drama queen for the last several weeks but is he ready for the biggest media market? Country boy goes to the big city. It's a strange fit IMHO. Square peg in a round hole.
Best wishes for #4. I'm sorry that his NFL career will end with another team. He had a chance to cement a defining sports legacy with a single team that would never be equaled again, but "the itch" and his ego got the best of him. Opportunity lost.
Thanks for 16 years of great Packer memories, Brett. You will be missed.
Also, lets see him try to pull these stunts next off season. The New York press will eat him alive.
