    • This is football. It ain't supposed to look like he was getting spa treatments.

I sure am glad that Aaron doesn't post pictures of his owies on the internet.

        Dirty? Mebbe.

It's a penalty. The "Carson Palmer" rule says 15 on a hit below the knee on a QB in the pocket, intent or no.

          • WTF....seriously a football player having pictures of bruises posted on the web? I keep losing more and more respect for this guy with each ridiculous "LOOK AT ME" moment.

Well what else was he supposed to do. The whole retire - unretire bit was wearing thin. The whole football world was going to ignore him until at least June. Something new had to be done to give him the attention he so richly deserves.

Well, I don't know about that. I am not a doctor and do not play one the internet, but the only time I have seen a hamstring look like that was a tear.

And I have seen an ankle like that before and that was a ligament tear.

The thing we are missing is context. The only other injured appendage I know of that currently has pictures on the internet is Dwight Freeny's foot.

                • I think I'm with Fritz here. I need to see photos of what other players look like after a game in which they take a solid pounding. Favre isn't the only player ever to get hit a lot in a game you know. I'm not a 6'2" football player, but if they were paying me $12 million, I'd probably put up with a few bruises from being hit by guys my size--even big bruises--without even posting them on the internet. Football players get hit like this all the time. Football players play with injuries worse than these all the time. I don't understand what the fuss is about.

                  • Here is Freeny's ankle, the one that purportedly may keep him out of the game. A DE is in a different position that an QB, so a direct comparison is probably impossible. Freeny has also be getting 24 hr per day treatment. The bigger question is what is wrong with man's pinkie toe?

That was my point exactly. The fact he has large black and blue marks means little of nothing. Could be something real serious...or not. I've seen goaltenders with black and blue bruising from armpit to wrist from taking shots on the inside of their arms. I've seen black and blue ankles from puck impacts, and saw one with a huge black and blue bruise on his hamstring from getting turned around and taking a slapshot to the back of his leg (he, as many, wore little to no real protection over his hamstring).

However, in an apparent attempt to bolster Favre's tough guy image, Bus Cook did little more than make him a target for jokes and sarcasm. Favre had an image 3 years ago that athletes (and their agents) drool over. It suffered a bit in the Packer situation and scrambling attempts to rebuild it seem to be doing more harm than good.

Yes. Context and a diagnosis. Maybe there will be more surreptitious visits to Dr. James Andrews and diagrams in the Minneapolis papers.
