      I know why.

DA: So Policy, the evidence against Jacobs is hardcore dammed. Simply put, the Filipino Bulldog is fucked. I called this meeting to give you a chance to offer a “gift” in exchange for case dismissal.

Policy: Fuck you. You know I am Italian, right. Know what that means?

DA: You dig pasta, cheese and wine, and your women are hot. I reckon, Dianna Russini is hot as hell.

Policy: The fuck with your dumb Italian stereotypes. My uncle is head of the Lovato crime family. Drop the fucking case.

DA: Are you threatening I, the esteemed DA of Green Bay, with extortion?

Policy: Uh, fuck. Drop the fucking case and we’ll ship you an official Super Bowl ring if we win it all this year.

DA: I woulda settled for a humble Italiana escort, but you’ve got yourself a deal.

Agreed. It seems like they reviewed the actual evidence and it showed that there is no reason that it even was in the news cycle.

Problematic fact pattern/witness(es)/victim(s)/difficulty getting to probable cause/difficulty getting to Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.

The longer it drags, the better it looks for Jacobs.

True, but the damn NFL has their own standard. The hell with reasonable doubt. They suspend anyway.

I'm not so sure. If they're planning on filing charges, they might have more loose ends to tie up before doing so. It could go either way. I don't think the passage of time tells us anything really.

It's clear that it isn't a slam dunk on the evidence in hand. If the woman had retracted her story, or said she won't press charges (typical in cases like this after money changed hands), the DA likely would say something about charges being dropped.

They said they were chasing more information. Hard to say how long that might take or if folks would cooperate.

Beyond interviews (or examinations) with the two people involved and maybe some neighbors that may have heard things, there isn't much else that they can do to get more information. It could well be at a point where they think Jacobs did what was reported, but they don't have enough for a conviction. The case might be permanently stuck there.

Could be. But then we are still left to ask why leave it in limbo. What are they waiting for?

If the case is stuck there, then there should be an announcement. DA's press release that the standard for indictment is "admissable evidence beyond a reasonable doubt".

There has been no decision on charges in the Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacob’s domestic violence case, but the investigation remains open, WTMJ’s Vince Vitrano has learned.

Hobart Police arrested Jacobs on May 26th on accusations of domestic violence. He spent the night in the Brown County Jail, but was released without charges.

When will charges be filed, if at all?

“I do not have any update to provide you at this time, as the matter remains under review,” District Attorney Dave Lasee said in an email to Vitrano. “When a charging decision has been made, that decision will be shared publicly.”

What is notable: “While the case remains under investigation, Lasee is promising to acknowledge its conclusion whether charges are filed or not,” Vitrano said on WTMJ Wis. Morning News on Monday.

Messages to Jacobs’ attorneys were not returned.

What’s the status of Jacobs’ legal situation?
Last Thursday, the Brown County District Attorney’s Office told The Athletic in an email that the investigation into running back Josh Jacobs was still open and that there will be an update provided once a resolution is reached. Jacobs was arrested by the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin and jailed in late May on five charges relating to domestic abuse. Before appearing in court the next day, Jacobs was released, with the D.A.’s office announcing that there was insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges at the time and that they had reason to believe there may be additional evidence that would impact what/if criminal charges were appropriate. Jacobs practiced all offseason while under investigation and teammates strongly supported him. There’s no telling when this will wrap up or what the resolution will be

Man, that's a lot of investigating. It's like an episode of NCIS - a team of about ten people has only one case to work, and they've got all the technology and resources in the world.

Surely they can figure this out.

Plea deal in the works? Or just Goodell not wanting this to be in the news all year?
