My humblest apologies. I cited the work so I thought I was in the clear. Edited.

KGB kind of fell off the radar after he was cut didn't he? I thought I read he tried out for a team late last season but I could be thinking of someone else. I am surprised to see him hang it up and not give it another shot, at least for a season or two. If Vonnie Holiday can still get a tryout, KGB you would have to think would warrant one too.

The St Louis Rams move into the number 1 ex-Packer team position in this thread.

The Rams signed LB Paris Lenon and WR Ruvell Martin.

Last week, they signed S Anthony Smith

They are now a sister franchise with those two moves.

Jeez, week three is going to be a 1st team vs 2nd team exhibition game, isn't it?

Looks like Rayner isn't going to stick anywhere long term. I thought he was a pretty good kicker when he was here, and would land somewhere else and make a decent career out of it. Guess not.

Rayner sucked. Though you were not alone in your assesment, as i believe merlin as thought he was better than crosby.

The thing about kickers is that is clearly defined, there is no subjectivity. At least in regards to making kicks (unless you have a bad holder)....kickoffs i guess we can talk about directions, hang time..which is more important..who gets the better direction, etc.

Rayner was 66% from 30-39....that is completely unacceptable. He was good from 40--49 at 8 of 11, but from 50 plus..1 of 3. So, if you got in his "sweet spot" he was good. Looking at him, you knew that his sweet spot would never hold.

He continued to be subpar at 30-39 and his 40-49 #s decreased, and he was futile from beyond the 50 at 1 for 5....the pack made the right move.

I don't think I thought he was better than Crosby...by halfway through Crosby's rookie year, I think it was pretty obvious the right choice had been made. I figured we'd gone from a good kicker to a great kicker...and thought the good kicker would land somewhere else.

I remember the booming kickoffs, which were so welcome after Longwell. I guess I blanked any missed FG's from my mind!

Ty can not discount or ignore his kickoffs...that is the subjective thing...booming..what about hangtime, etc. Not saying he was bad at that, at all.

On a fully loaded team, I could see rayner just kicking off...i was hoping for the same thing for Hall of the badgers.

I forget who..but i remember a team having two kickers for that express reason....for some reason daluiso (sp?) comes up.

                        Yeah, yer right Ty.

Indy just cut their "kick-off kicker" & will have Vinitieri do both jobs, to pick up the extra roster spot.

Several teams have used the 3 kicker approach.

Rayner has an unofficial record for hang-time recorded on a KO. He was an average kicker, but his kick-off hang time has probably done as much as anything towards him staying on rosters.

3 kicker? I'm assuming you mean 2..or that 3 includes the punter.

Or, you are on your 5th mint julep.

I've never heard of the punter referred to as a kicker. Or, using the term kicker to describe both punters and kickers...as a general catchall. Maybe that is a southern thing, but i've never heard it.

I said i assumed the 3 includes the punter. What part of being a smartass is that?
