2-defense--They need to force AP to beat them. Don't let Brett.

    3-ST-Crosby can't miss any fieldgoals.
This would assume that they bothered to try and get the TE's involved at all.
I don't think its the gameplan per se, its the protection. We keep max protecting and that pulls the TE out of the route.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

A few well timed seam routes with our TE's might keep the other teams a lot more honest with their LB's. I guess its a chicken/egg scenario but I see a pretty vanilla O so far this year.

Wow Patler, we NEED at TD on defense or special teams to win?! Not good odds.

How many points does it take to win this one? I say 28 and I believe the offense capable of scoring that against anyone.

I can see that this week, especially being on the road. M3's gameplan against the Vikes D in 07 was one of my favorites. Stayed with the run with much more success than anticipated, but also some four and five receiver routes. But that was at Lambeau.

That's what I thought as well.

Baiting Brent into taking chances is > than letting AD get into the 2nd level.

If Favre tries to show up TT, MM and the GB organization, we will see a bunch of interceptions and the Packers could win. If Favre maintains his control, is willing to play as a complement to Peterson and the running game, the Vikings will win.

                Keys to the game:

                1. Favre's mental attitude and/or Bevell's ability to keep him under control. And I do mean Bevell, not Childress, Kevin Rogers or anyone else. Bevell knows Favre, how he reacts, how he can lose focus, and what is needed to keep him on track. Although, realistically, those who did it the best were Tom Clements and Mike McCarthy. I don't think Bevell ever did under Sherman.

                2. Colledge has to play very well at LT for the Packers to have a chance. More than the defense stopping Peterson, more than any other player except Rodgers, for the Packers the game hinges on Colledge. I have never been a supporter of Colledge as the LT of the future.

                3. For the Packers to win, their special teams have to outplay the Viking's special teams. Not play them to a draw, outplay them.

                4. The Packers will need a touchdown on defense or special teams to win.

The Packers have not started seasons particularly well under McCarthy. The Vikings seem to get out of the gate better under Childress, but haven't always finished well. I expect the Vikings to win at home on Monday. Would I bet money on it? Absolutely not, because I think a lot of the pieces are in place on the Packers, and they will have a good season. The question is when will they put it all together. I do not see them doing it this week.

On a side note: The Vikings tend to finish poorly, so they pick up Favre, who tends to finish poorly. A marriage made in heaven for Packer and Bear fans!!
Thanx - nice post. I've actually put money on vikes to win...so I'll at least get $$ or even better...a Packer win

What the Packers need more than anything to win is a fucking running game....if Rodgers is forced to pass all the time he's a dead man.

Grant and company better earn their money tonight.

and here is more of the same, only missing the sacastic comment. If you don't agree fine say why, don't be an asshole!

I have a reason for my thought. Usually teams with great running games won't be able to run up the score in the NFL, so if you shut down the passing game from the get go you keep yourself in the game thoughout. Now if we keep it close, we have a shot. I look to the indy/miami game, Dolphins run all over Colts but couldn't put them away. Presto Indy wins game.....

Peterson ran all over us last year, to the tune of nearly 200 yards. He can run up the score all by himself. But the bigger reason to focus on Peterson and make Favre beat us is that Favre is prone to making mistakes where Peterson is not.

The way to win this game is to try and force the Vikings into making mistakes, and then capitalizing on those mistakes. Favre will make that killer mistake - he's done it more than once before. So if I'm the Packers defense, that's what I'm looking to try to do. I'm trying to shut down AP as well as I can and bait Favre into making one of his killer mistakes. That's the blueprint the Niners defense laid out last week and almost won. We just have to execute that blueprint better - don't drop the easy pick 6.

Now I appreciate that line of thought and it is probably what most people think. I just have a feeling they need to go against the conventional thinking in this one. I do get a kick out of all the Favre will give you the game. Sure it has happened, but I still maintain he has taken more than he has given. The guy has won more than anybody else.
Teams conventionally use the pass to score points and the run to control tempo and time. Stop them from scoring and you in the ball game. I know AP could take over the game on his own, but even he doesn't do that most games...stop the pass.
