We'll go on and win the next 2, see what happens then....Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersI'm just not that pissed. Played a good team on the road when they had everything to play for, and we lost on the last play. Oh well! In the end it probably won't matter one bit that we lost this game--provided we beat Seattle next week. If we lose to Seattle, then I will be pissed.
It's the Crosby thing that galls me !!
One bad kick.........
there were about a dozen plays on the last drive where if any of them had gone our way we would have one
I Know it, Red, there were other chances, it's just that I was irked over the
missed kick, it should not keep happening. Oh well, next week it's
another game. We'll do GREAT then.Is it really a halo or
just a swelled head ?

Maurice Jones Drew did this two or three weeks ago. Would have been better. Even if all three rush attempts fail, chip shot FG for the lead.Originally posted by redWow, radio caller just made a great point
if jones takes a knee at the 1 instead of scoring the touchdowns. you could take a large chunk of time off the clock, and maybe make the steelers burn a timeout
all we needed was a fg to win.
kneel down 3 times and you take the clock to a minute and kick the fG.
give the ball back with under a minute and no timeouts
great points the guy brought upBud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

But in that case, the clock and your spent defense are just behind the score in importance. Its worth the risk considering the gain. Think about the Steelers having the ball with no timeouts and under 2 minutes.Originally posted by FritzBut what if there's a fumble on one of those plays? What if the field goal is blocked?

I completely agree--and I agree that Bell had excellent coverage on the TD pass--it just was one heckuva pass by Big Ben.Originally posted by red

Wow.....there is some crazy stuff in here. I have to admit I couldn't watch the last play even though I thought we had it won. The penalties on us were maddening and the non calls on the Steelers just made it worse....but you need to dial up one play to stop them and fail........ugh.C.H.U.D.

I still think the risk is greater than the reward. You're saying that a player who has a chance to score the go ahead touchdown - not field goal, but touchdown - should pass on that? Again, the risks are too great. A fumble. A blocked kick. Heck, the way Crosby is kicking, a missed kick. Then you're behind.Originally posted by pbmaxBut in that case, the clock and your spent defense are just behind the score in importance. Its worth the risk considering the gain. I see both sided, but personally I'd have more faith in Crosby Kicking it in that our secondary stopping Big Ben the way that game was going.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Agreed. Play football for Pets sake. The Achilles Heal of this Packer team is penalties. Cut those down and you don't put competitors like Tomlin, Ben et al in a position where they think they can beat you and ultimately do.Originally posted by FritzI still think the risk is greater than the reward. I agree with Fritz in this situation. Not to mention he still would have had a minute and only needed to get into field goal position with Jeff Reed available. He's a great kicker in that place. A couple of passes and they're setting up for the FG to win it that way. We had a better chance trying to get a stop and couldn't get it done.Originally posted by FritzI still think the risk is greater than the reward. This is also a good point. Instead of making Pittsburgh have to get to the end zone, you leave them only having to get to about the 25 yard line.Originally posted by jmbarnes101I agree with Fritz in this situation. I learned this lesson many years ago, in another life, when I coached boys' basketball. We were undefeated - about 10 - 0 - and up by one at the end of a game but were having a hard time playing defense. However, the other team's point guard was a terrible, terrible free throw shooter. I told my guys to foul him on the inbounds and make him shoot free throws. He was like 0 - 6 at that point and had a season average in about the 40th percentile.
The kids did as I instructed, the opposing point guard hit two - count 'em, two - free throws, and suddenly the pressure was on my kids to score with about six seconds left. We lost, and I learned a valuable lesson."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

I agree that is a potential possibility...and with the Steelers already racking up 400+ yards in passing offense, it probably would've been the best choice. I knew they were going to get at least a couple shots at the end zone...and Big Ben is ridiculous at making plays in those situations.Originally posted by redWow, radio caller just made a great point

At the very least, Jones should've stood at the goal line and let time run down as far as possible before scoring. We got screwed on the change of possession, because the Steelers got an extra time out when we tackled their returner at 2:01. That would've eliminated the last :03My signature has NUDITY in it...whatcha gonna do?

I do to, and you can rule out the fumbles because you could just take a knee or even kick it on 3rd down should something go wrong. I know it's against conventional thinking, but in hindsight it might have worked.Originally posted by BretskyOriginally posted by FritzI still think the risk is greater than the reward.
