Allen Barbre, who opened the 2009 season as the starting right tackle, reached an injury settlement and was released. Barbre was a fourth-round pick in the 2007 draft. He had been battling a back problem late in camp, but had not performed well before that.

Maybe next year the NFL will turn it into a primetime special and eliminate them like the kids on American idol.Originally posted by Fred's Slacks1 down, 22 to go. I hope each one isn't announced individually like this.

Too bad about Barbre. I was intrigued when he was drafted. A 300 lb lineman who was a gunner on punts. Coaches and players commented on his athleticism that first year. Everything seemed good. Then the 2nd TC came around and there was nothing from him. He was given opportunity after opportunity and couldn't take advantage.
Time to move on.

yes, that pile of dung embarrassed me enough with my predictions supporting him. I actually believe he got WORSE as time went on.Originally posted by PatlerToo bad about Barbre. I was thinking the same thing, that he actually seemed to get worse as time went on. But, I probably shouldn't get started on the O-line coaches again!Originally posted by bobbleheadyes, that pile of dung embarrassed me enough with my predictions supporting him. Everyone thought Wells would be traded last year, but he wasn't. I don't think Spitz will be this year, either.Originally posted by FritzWonder if Tedly is trying desperately to wrangle a 7th for Giaco, or if MM is passionately pleading with TT not to trade Spitz.
The monkey wrench in the plans could be the health of Goode. If he might miss next week, the Packers have to keep Dietrich-Smith as a snapper, which then might make Spitz the odd-man-out and available for a trade.
