2010 Opener: The Official Packers -v- Eagles Game Thread
TV just flipped to Rams/Arizona. Who are those announcers? A lot of dead air, and just stating the obvious. Must be radio guys, just telling you what is happening. Play by play guy just said "throws it for a completion". Kind of redundant on TV!
That's ron pitts and someone.

I kind of ripped him in the preseason, but you know who had a hell of a game? B.J. Raji. (Ryan Pickett also.) It's hard to find blame when Vick gets them back in the game by scrambling for 100 yards in a half. Our young guys weren't exploited in the passing game. Our biggest mistakes on defense were 1) knocking Kolb out of the game, and 2) getting too much pressure on Vick (and giving up the scrambles). Gotta find a way to keep him in the pocket.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson
Hopefully, Rodgers got his bad 2010 game out of the way today ... He didn't have a particular good game last year against the Bears to open the season ... but good enough like this year ...
More than anything, I think the Eagles are going to be really good defensively. Two good DEs, two good DTs, Stewart Bradley is the next Brian Urlacher, Ernie Sims, Asante Samuel, Mikell is a solid safety. They'll surprise a lot of people, if Kolb plays better (or Vick plays like he did today). I think the Vikings play at Philly in December. I bet Favre plays poorly in that cold weather game, and this very well could be a game we gain on the Vikings in the end.
Philly is a playoff caliber team. This was a nice win. Until today, the Packers haven't won in Philly since 1962. They have a lot to work ahead of them this week but should handle Buffalo at home with ease .... at least I hope so ...
Two feet down and both hands on the ball...is the play not over at that point???
Apparently not!
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.
2) getting too much pressure on Vick (and giving up the scrambles). Gotta find a way to keep him in the pocket.
That's pretty darn near impossible with the way we were calling the defense. We were pretty much rushing n and dropping 11-n to prevent anything deep. You can't call it prevent because we certainly were rushing enough (and from enough wacky angles) to get pretty consistent pressure. Against most ordinary QBs that works beautifully, it's just that with Vick you either have to convince him to throw an errant ball, or you have to tackle him when you get pressure.
If the Eagles end up starting Vick a lot this year, they could be really dangerous because of the skill guys they have.

It would be called a fumble in the field of play. So he had to have possesion to make it a fumble which would end the play in the end zone and should be a TD.
Damn is this confusing!

This is really a rule that the NFL needs to evaluate and clarify in the offseason. Because sure, the referees understand it (although I swear that I saw it called 3 different ways in the 2009 season), but laypeople even so called "experts" like professional analysts struggle to wrap their heads around it.
Hell, it might just be time o change the rule. I don't think "If you go down, and you touch with 2 feet, a knee, your face, etc. and you hang onto the ball while making that contact, that's a TD" would be all that bad a rule.

He would've had a second sack if anyone other than Vick was back there.

Okay, so it's James Johnson and not Kregg Lumpkin on the PS. If Grant is going to be out, do they activate Johnson, or go with just Jackson and Kuhn at RB?

What a great win. The D held at the end and A-Rod and the offense put up 27 points on A BAD DAY. A Rod will bounce back big, Im not worried ONE BIT about him. Lets not sell the Eagles short. They are a tough team with a great coach. Winning in Philly is so damn tough.
Oh, and I have always hated Vick. If that was Kolb (or most QBs in the league) the Pack wouldnt have had 8 sacks today. But oh well, they need to adjust better I suppose. Still a great win.
I cant wait to go to Lambeau on SUNDAY! We are going to ROLL THE BILLS!
