I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen
Delbert was sort of a joke. He wouldn't be right for the SB. He'd rock the joint, but nobody knows who he is. He's never had a record company/management that could get a hit on his enormous musical talent. He remains a legend in the business, but unknown to the public.
If I was commish...
I'd get Clapton. Eric could put on a killer show and most of the sheeple know who he is.
Thanks KY, though I bow to Iron Mike on all things football.
As to the White Stripes, poor Meg White has some serious anxiety issues, so I wouldn't bank on her being able to do a Super Bowl gig.
Sure, Clapton is superb, but for the Super Bowl, that quintessential American event, you need an American band to headline (unless you agree, a la U2, to have your frontman wear the Stars and Stripes in the liner of his/her jacket). This is our chance to showcase Us. And if you're in Indi-friggin-ana, there's really only one act worthy of consideration.
So I'm sticking with Johnny Cougar. Well, ain't that America?
Freak, have you seen Axl lately? Not so good. And besides, after the way GNR failed to do right when Hetfield caught on fire, I'm not cool with him getting the gig.
