  • Delbert McClinton.

He'd blow those other acts you all are talking about off the stage.

Besides, he's an old white guy.

    • It's about time that old white guys got their chance at fame and fortune in this country!
All hail the Ruler of the Meadow!

Nope, R. Dean was born in Canada, and my sources tell me no one in Indiana wants him anymore.

So besides making Wood Buck happy, he don't cut it.

These two boys are like the college of musical knowlege!

            • Isn't Soundgarden playing a few shows this year? Team them with Pearl Jam and I would be happy.

Old white guy in Indiana? Has to be...

                I can't run no more
                With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
                Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
                A thundercloud

I was joking. In all seriousness I would go with The White Stripes (RIP).

                  • Delbert was sort of a joke. He wouldn't be right for the SB. He'd rock the joint, but nobody knows who he is. He's never had a record company/management that could get a hit on his enormous musical talent. He remains a legend in the business, but unknown to the public.

                    If I was commish...

I'd get Clapton. Eric could put on a killer show and most of the sheeple know who he is.

                    Eric and Sheryl Crowe mebbe?

If they play that song, I would watch.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

                        • The Stripes broke up....but we know how that works. I could get down with that.

                          Slow Hand......hell yes.

                          • Thanks KY, though I bow to Iron Mike on all things football.

As to the White Stripes, poor Meg White has some serious anxiety issues, so I wouldn't bank on her being able to do a Super Bowl gig.

Sure, Clapton is superb, but for the Super Bowl, that quintessential American event, you need an American band to headline (unless you agree, a la U2, to have your frontman wear the Stars and Stripes in the liner of his/her jacket). This is our chance to showcase Us. And if you're in Indi-friggin-ana, there's really only one act worthy of consideration.

So I'm sticking with Johnny Cougar. Well, ain't that America?

                              • Freak, have you seen Axl lately? Not so good. And besides, after the way GNR failed to do right when Hetfield caught on fire, I'm not cool with him getting the gig.
