It's the offseason, so we're entitled to a little fantasy football. We're hoping that Jolly-coming-back would be an uprgrade over the CJ Wilsonish types on the roster.

If CJ Wilson and Jarius Wynn are on the roster at the start of the season, a few of us will be mightily disappointed.

But in truth, I'm not sure Goodell will even reinstate Jolly for this season. My guess is that he'll ask Jolly to come back after the season, show he's clean, and try again.

If the NFL can reinstate this guy, I see no reason not to do the same for Jolly.

No statement on this at all. I expected something before TC started. The NFL continues to really hate on this guy.

Agreed. What Travis Henry did was way worse than what Jolly did.

The only thing that the NFL can really say in their defense is that Henry is unlikely to be signed by anyone, so the reinstatement is just for show, to make the NFLPA think the league is treating players fairly.

Jolly has a decent shot at being picked up by someone.

Williams and KGB were our pass rush specialists off the bench, and gave the other guys breathers.

We were a top 10 defense. I believe we were like 8-1 or something like that. KGB blew out his knee and ended his career (I think he already had darn near 8 or 10 sacks at that point.) Jolly went down, forcing Williams to play more (his play dipped.)

We started to get gashed all over, in the run and pass. As magical as that season began, losing 2 of our top 6 DL in a 4-3 defense had our defense drop from top 10 to bottom 10 in a matter of 6 or 7 weeks. We were losing games down the stretch. The offense was peaking, but the defense was crumbling.

I guess my point is, Johnny Jolly is a good player and although he might not be a star, if you have a guy on the bench who is legit, it rests everyone else so everyone is better, not to mention his play being good in itself. Jolly, the way he was, would help. A lot.

Big if. I'll go ahead and classify it as a doubt.
You can't actually be logical and say the decline in defense lost them games that year. You have to blame Favre, like everyone else on this forum.

Goodell is not a fan of the Packers. =S

If Jolly can play at 80% or 90% of what he was it would still be a big asset to our DL. The question is can he?

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. The real question is this; will Goodell let him play?

I'm worried the answer is no.

I wish Jolly had just ran someone over and killed them while DUI so he could play this season.

I'd kind of forgotten about Jolly, and I'm pretty surprised no decision has been made yet. You'd think they'd have given him an answer before TC's started.

I think Goodell will make Jolly show he can stay clean for a year before reinstating him.

Goodell is a sniveling shit, and I'm pretty sick of him.

Did he make Michael Vick go a year without killing dogs before reinstatement?
