  • This 24 hour media coverage has led us to get excited that Sherrod is now doing individual drills with Campen.

As MM put it, Sherrod is a victim of his injury classification.

The doctors hold all the power, is how it's kind of presented.

So maybe Belichek will start bribing other teams' doctors to keep guys out for longer periods, especially if they're playing the Pats soon.

      THUMBS DOWN

WR Jeremy Ross is another talented player. Some players, however, always seem to be around bad plays when they occur. Ross must prove he isn't one of them. On Monday, he was running an inside-breaking route in the end zone for the No. 1 offense when Aaron Rodgers had his pass to Ross intercepted by CB James Nixon on a bang-bang-play. It was a tremendous pick, no doubt, but Ross allowed the cornerback to beat him across his face. He didn't position himself to make the catch or at least fight for the ball so neither would gain possession. In the intrasquad scrimmage, Ross slipped on an out cut that Nixon returned 65 yards for a TD. Minus the slip, Ross said he would have made the catch or it wouldn't have been caught at all. Against Arizona, one reason for Graham Harrell's ill-advised interception was Ross's poor release against CB Patrick Peterson. Of course, no one has forgotten his fumbled punt return at Candlestick Park in the playoffs.
He's kind of the opposite of Boykin and Walker at this point. Its rare that Thompson and McCarthy have kept a pure return man. He needs to step it up.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Boykin didn't impress in the preseason opener either. And Franklin was mighty shaky fielding at least on punt I saw. So Ross fumbled in a critical playoff game, changing the entire momentum of the contest - no one will hold that against him for 3-4 decades, will they?

        • I wouldn't hold it against him if he were having a stellar camp.

          • I thought Boykin had one catch that I saw, but it was late and Walker, Hines and someone else seemed to make more plays.

I think Ross is going to have to be an all around Special Teams demon to make it if there are other WR candidates better than him.

Mike Daniels takes first snap on 3-4 defensive line without Pickett. Starks gets first carry, then Franklin

Rodgers and Starks misfire on a screen. A little behind Starks, still could have been caught.

AT THIS POINT I AM COMFORTABLE PREDICTING THAT JAMES STARKS HANDS ARE NO BETTER THAN AVERAGE. HE MIGHT BE BORROWING FINLEY'S

Van Roten lining up at RT in this period.

                        WORDS FAIL.

SON, WE LIVE IN A WORLD THAT HAS WALLS, EVEN IF THEY ARE CALLED THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE BY THE FANCY TAILGATING AND SABREMETRIC CROWD YOU HANG AROUND WITH. THOSE WALLS MUST BE GUARDED BY MEN WHO RESEMBLE DANCING BEARS. AND ON THAT WALL, WE USE WORDS LIKE TACKLES, INTERIOR PLAYERS AND PAD LEVEL. WE USE THESE WORDS AS THE BACKBONE OF A LIFE SPENT TRYING TO KEEP THE QB UPRIGHT VERSUS HOARDS OF BOAT REFUGEES FROM MUSKEGON, CRYSTAL LAKE AND EDEN PRAIRIE.

YOU USE THOSE TERMS AS A PUNCHLINE. JAMES CAMPEN HAS NEITHER THE TIME NOR INCLINATION TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF TO YOU AS HE DESIGNS EVER MORE ELABORATE PLAYER ROTATIONS TO INCREASE THE AEROBIC CAPACITY OF OUR DANCING BEARS. WE WOULD RATHER YOU SAY "THANK YOU GREG VAN ROTEN" AND STOP TRYING TO DETERMINE HOW INTERIOR BEAR WILL BECOME A PART TIME TACKLE BEAR. OTHERWISE, PUT ON A PAIR OF BIKE SHORTS AND A BASEBALL CAP AND COACH AN NUTCRACKER DRILL.

RB Eddie Lacy is in pads and taking part in group drills. Doesn't seem like full burst but this is not a competitive drill.

OK. NOW WHAT ABOUT DORSEY? ISN'T HE THE ONE FROM MARYLAND WHO HAD NO QB? OR WAS HE THE ONE WITH THE FAMILY CONCERNS WHO TRANSFERRED TO CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY?

Each back taking a snap at a time. Order was Harris, Starks, Lacy, Franklin, Green, Pease.

MCCARTHY WAS SERIOUS ABOUT THIS STARTER STUFF APPARENTLY. STOP GOOFING OFF LACY AND GET YOURSELF UNDRAFTED

Starks working with the first team. Not a shocker. Harris being eased back, Lacy's first day off hamstring. Probably see 44/20 a lot Sat.
