  • Looks like Crosby is done for.
But, will it be Tavecchio, or someone else?

I think you're probably right. Those 4 kicks were his chance to solidify his position, and he failed his test miserably.

      • Shit, Datone Jones turns out to be an injury waiting to happen. And Crosby just inserted his head in his rectum again. Maybe he's like a kid who hurts himself and then, as soon as he recovers from the shock, proceeds to reenact the event (a) to see how it happened or (b) to prove to himself that he's the master of the world and not the other way around.

DE Datone Jones is limping off. Hurt left foot again.

OH GOODY. JONES GOES INSIDE FOR TREATMENT. TALLER DOESN'T MEAN LESS INJURIES APPARENTLY
          Left foot.
He broke his right foot a few years ago, and it has a pin in it.

So..... is it good or bad that this is the other foot?

          See ya in 2014, Datone.

            • I won't be surprised if Crosby is released in the next day or two, either to give Tavecchio the last two games to prove himself, or to bring in someone else to try and unseat him.

Doesn't seem to be much reason to keep Crosby around at this point.

I was gonna say, get rid of both those scrubs and bring in Dan Carpenter and Rian Lindell and let those two hash it out...but I just saw they both got picked up.

Waited too long TT, waited too long.

                • McCarthy Post Practice Wednesday

                  Tom Silverstein ‏@TomSilverstein 35m
MM: Andy Mulumba has a knee injury. Just blew up in meetings. Going through tests. Not sure of his availiability with Seattle.

                  Packer Report ‏@PackerReport 36m
Datone Jones rolled ankle late in practice. Same one, McCarthy adds. Mulumba out with knee. "Blew up in meetings last night" Tests ongoing.

                  Mike Vandermause ‏@MikeVandermause 35m
MM: Didn't like the way we practiced when we got to move the ball portion.

                  Mike Vandermause ‏@MikeVandermause 35m
MM: Players are supposed to practice. When pads are on we are supposed to practice certain way. Didn't accomplish that.

                  Tyler Dunne ‏@TyDunne 35m
McCarthy: We didn't take full advantage of opportunity today to get ready for Seattle.

                  Packer Report ‏@PackerReport 35m
McCarthy on Crosby's misses: "It's not a good day ... probably like a lot of other guys didn't have a good day today."

                  Mike Vandermause ‏@MikeVandermause 35m
MM: We will have more moving parts than I thought we would 2-3 days ago. They need to play well vs. excellent competition.

                  Mike Vandermause ‏@MikeVandermause 35m
MM: Cobb was limited practice mode today. he's very close, don't know about him playing Friday. Jordy Nelson also very close.

REMEMBER, CLOSE TO MIKE IS THIS SEASON

                  Tom Silverstein ‏@TomSilverstein 37m
MM: DuJuan Harris looks fully recovered. Needs to keep working on technical things.

                  Tom Silverstein ‏@TomSilverstein 38m
MM: I thought Harris ran the ball hard. He practiced like he was supposed to. He was one of the people who practiced like he should.

                  Mike Vandermause ‏@MikeVandermause 38m
MM:"Communicate" is the answer to question of what he does when he's ticked at players and there isn't another practice before game.

                  Tom Silverstein ‏@TomSilverstein 39m
MM: Vince Young putting in extra time. Getting more comfortable.

                  Tom Silverstein ‏@TomSilverstein 38m
MM: How much starters will play Friday will come down to our discussion on Thursday. We want to play well and win, but we need information.

                  Packer Report ‏@PackerReport 38m
No final decisions are right tackle. Maybe after the game.

                  Tyler Dunne ‏@TyDunne 37m
MM on Charles Johnson: Want to see him play, see him play fast. Doesn't have timing/reps down with QB. Want to him play fast w confidence.

                  • Per MM, Datone Jones turned his ankle, the same one he hurt two weeks ago. So either you keep 'em out forever and they never progress (Sherrod, Quarless) or you put 'em back on the field and they immediately get re-injured. For whatever reason the Packers under TT and MM are cursed with injuries. When did the curse first appear? Was it Justin Harrell? Terrence Murphy? The curse needs a name.

In other news, JSO reports that MM says that Andy Mulumba's knee "just blew up in meetings". Hopefully that is just a figure of speech, not a comparison between Mulumba and Dustin Keller. If it is a comparison, that is probably good news for someone like Sam Barrington.

                    • Good God now we've got knees blowing up in meetings.

They should probably re-think how they conduct their meetings.

Talking to Joe Whitt, sounds like Shields is going to have a chance at defending No. 1 receivers this yr. They want to go L to R at CB.

This is getting even more ridiculous. If it turns out he's gone for any length of time, then I'm going to cry myself to sleep tonight after drinking a bottle of wine.

Sounds like MM is thinking of using preseason game #3 to evaluate personnel - that is, instead of this being the big "tune up" game with the regulars, as it usually is, it sounds like he wants to throw a bunch of guys in there to evaluate, maybe use game #4 of the preseason to get the machine oiled.

he needs to see guys like Charles Johnson, Quarless, House, even Crosby.

I would say Friday night's game is Crosby's Last Stand. He's got to be perfect or he's gone.

I think Detroit is gonna release this "kickalicious" dude...can he be any more of an adventure than Crosby was last year?
