Let's not lose sight that their front 4 is elite. We were limited working the middle of the field when Finley went down. A healthy Starks virtually eliminates the fluke fumble in the 4th quarter that was run back 50+ yards.

The offense was playing at a huge disadvantage, and on top of that it was a tough road game. The sky is not falling. We lost a ridiculous game, crazy things happen in Cincy, so it goes...
The thing is, it seems a healthy Starks will never happen.

    • Sounds like I missed a pretty shitty game. I saw the 1st Q score of 0 - 14 and was like, what the hell. I figured someone must have fumbled or something. I don't know what happened, nor do I care at the moment. I'm just pissed they fought to come back, take the lead, then pissed it away. I kept checking the score and saw the PAckers making a come back and then the lead. But, seems like if they don't have at least a 2 plus TD lead going into the 4th quarter, this team can't/won't win.

When I saw the score was 30 - 34 and the Packers had about 3 minutes, maybe 4 mins left, I knew they had a chance and really thought, WOW, maybe they will pull it off. It's been so long since they did this, they have to be due. They only need a TD and have plenty of time to do it. What was I thinking?

When was the last time this team actually had a last minute come back. I seriously can't remember.

So, got home and read some quick reviews of the game.. Now, I gotta rant.

McCarthy, your a dumbass. You told the media that the last time you went into a game with only 2 RB, its was a mistake and you paid for it because one got injured. So, what do you do - you do it again. I'm just an average fan, but with Starks injury history and just his running style, even I knew he wasn't going to last long. Murphy's law McCarthy, you should know better.

      Next...

Matthews - WTF? Hamstring...AGAIN. EVERY FUCKING YEAR?!?! Seriously, why, every year do you leave a game with a hamstring injury - usually in a close game when we really need you. Very sick of this. I wait every year for you to leave cause of your damn hamstring.

Seems the last couptimes they've played Cinci, Cinci has made the Packers their bitch. I'm sick of it. I guess I should be happy they only play them every 4 years, but come on!

who else should have been activated? Did it really hurt them? They post 182 rushing yards and you're ripping the choices McCarthy made at the running back position? Astonishing.

          you go find one

we had a few plays at the end of the game where we had no running back, at a time when we should have been running the ball because it was there all day

no excuse for not being able to field a RB

You release Ross or Boyd or someone and you sign a RB. With this conservative medical staff, you knew Lacy wasn't going to play. Your options were Starks, who has a history of getting hurt and a rookie who sucked ass in TC and Preseason. McCarthy rolled the dice...again and it bit him in the ass.

I'm not saying that this was McCarthy's only fault today, just one thing that bothered me and i needed to rant about.

That all said I do agree EDS sucks donkey dong.
Could not afford Wells. But his replacement may already be on the roster. EDS does not look like the solution and I think Thompson agrees with you.

However, he is not the tire fire Saturday was and he has somehow gotten in the way enough to block for 2 100 yard runners. Its simply that his physical limitations mean he cannot be more than average.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

              • Its no longer up to team medical staff. Independent neurologist needs to clear Lacy first.

I don't think the RB situation hurt the offense today. Some iffy play from TEs was more of a prob.

                  • Rodgers looked pretty shitty today. A couple of drops sure, but possibly his worst game in years.

This is great analysis coming from a guy who didn't even watch the game.

                          • What's crazy looking at the final stats, is that GB outgained the Bengals in passing yards, rushing yards, and total yards. We had more TOP by a significant margin and converted more first downs.

3 second half turnovers are just brutal. Honestly ARod's one throw to Cobb on an out-and-up was an incredibly poor decision. Shocking to see Arod do that. He was really playing rattled all game and took some killer hits.

Ripping the lack of healthy bodies at the position. The Pack was running all over them, the OL despite being unable to pass block seemed to be getting yards for both Starks and Franklin. Can't believe I'm agreeing with Pittstang, but ya, I was also pretty damn sure as well that Starks was going down sooner rather than later. When Franklin went back in, he was there for blocking or as a decoy. If there'd been another RB available, things might've gone a bit differently at then end of the game.
