  • Gotta feel sorry for the Brown Fans; settling for a Bills coach, and a defensive coach at that when this team clearly needed a Offensive Head Coach to turn the QB situation around and then get Ray Horton to stay as the DC.......I'd hate being a Browns fan
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

      • With the announcement that Van Pelt will replace McAdoo as the QB coach, i wonder what that means for Bennett? He's done a good job, what's his next logical step? Is is OC, or would he be another positional coach? I kind of thought he might get the QB coach position.

How many have pulled out now? Three I think, Gase, McDaniels and Bowles. McAdoo might've had a shot but went to the Giants instead. Of course, they probably wanted him for an OC, but had to wait until they had an HC in place first.

Well, they can always go back to one guy they interviewed who's still available, Rich Bisaccia (??), you know, the Cowboys ST coordinator who as far as I can tell has never been a head coach at any level!
One big issue in Cleveland has to do with the QB situation. I wonder what "the Browns" will do in the draft and that out of the #4 slot?

That's an interesting watch for me as ... what will Minny do and QB from the #8 pick?

i don't know. does a guy have to try out all the positions before he is allowed to coach the whole thing? i think that the fact he has shown he can coach two different groups already might mean that the next step could be OC

an OC for a offensive minded head coach who calls all the plays himself wouldn't be that far out of the relm for bennett

i'm not saying the guy should be our OC right now, but i can easily see him getting that shot in the future somewhere if not here

My feelings as well - he'll be moving to that spot, possibly sooner if not later. His name doesn't seem to have come up for any positions this time around though.

I don't think a guy has to go through all the positions before being a HC. I think the only position Sherman coached before becoming an OC was tight ends.

You know they're giving up on Weeden, aren't content to start Campbell and are going to make like Casey at the Bat, swing for the fences by drafting Johnny Football, and strike out. It doesn't seem that team will ever experience Casey's Revenge.

                        lol

Looks like he may have made a bit of a power play, forcing the Browns to make a decision before the SB was done and they could interview candidate from the Broncos and Seahawks.

New Browns head coach Mike Pettine was ready to tell the team he was no longer interested if their 25-day coaching search had gone much longer.

If they'd called his bluff and he'd done it, the Browns would have looked even worse, if that's possible.

                        • The Buffalo Bills wasted little time filling their vacant defensive coordinator position after Mike Pettine took the Cleveland Browns' head coaching position Thursday.

Buffalo Bills hire Jim Schwartz to run defense.

                          • Mike Pettine is ensconced as Cleveland's new coach, but the Browns almost missed out on hiring him. How close was Pettine to returning to Buffalo to resume his assistant duties with the Bills?

The BROWNS have their man to be the Teams new Head coach:

Mike Pettine almost pulled out of Browns' search.

" The winding Cleveland Browns coaching search was the subject of a lot of jokes over the last few weeks, but the protracted timeline was no laughing matter to new coach Mike Pettine.

He wasn't sure how much longer he could stay in the race.

"That was starting to wear on me these last couple of days," Pettine told WGR-AM in Buffalo. "I talked to (coach) Doug (Marrone) and it was getting to the point where I'd say, 'Hey, if this goes on much longer I need to pull out because it's just not fair to the Bills.'" ..."

Bortles is a QB, not a coach.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

                              • I generally read the threads pbmax. I'm hardly 'a member' that posts here without a clue of what's going on overall. I certainly pay attention.

My response to you and your specific finding an error/ommission on my part, pbmax:

There wasn't any error in my post that you make reference to pbmax.

                                SEE post #244...my post.

If I made an error (maybe) in you mind it was introducing that line of thought to this thread. It wasn't my intention to do that... simply to make available 'a thought' of what any HC prospect might deem difficult, when considering the Cleveland Browns as a Team to be a Head Coach for.

The BROWNS 'in fact' selected the HC prior to the upcoming draft as they would have been advised to.

                                Have a great weekend...pbmax
