Fair enough. To be clear, I meant with proper coaching, work on technique, etc., it could be done - the leg strength and kicking ability should mostly be there. I didn't mean to imply just taking some high school soccer player off the street and giving them a uni.
I suspect the investment and knowledge isn't there for some teams, I wonder if GB is one of them.

My grandson who was a soccer player and a high school kicker as well as Brandon Aubrey would beg to differ.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

      • High school? Don't the seasons run concurrently? I am aware of this because we had a kid who could nail 50 yarders, but he was a soccer player so he wasn't available during football season.

        • My grandson didn't play school soccer, but I think it is a Spring sport around here. Anyway, a LOT of soccer players do very well kicking footballs - and have for fifty or so years, back to the Gogolaks and Chester Marcol.

Lawrence Guy cut by the Bengals.

Because there's not enough ex Packers on that team.

M3 will be available to coach next season.

                        • MVS made an appearance in the highlights for NO vs ATL. He flashes about 3 times a season and then disappears, but good for him. He's carved out a decent career for himself (SB ring with KC) as a Day 3 pick.

Honest question. Who was the better value at this point, MVS or Watson. It could change still, but the answer is a no brainer right now. I'm still salty we didn't take George Pickens who was a 5 star HS talent and SEC star.

I'd like to see how the rest of the season goes, but actually I'd lean Watson. He already has more TDs than MVS had in 4 years for GB. Thing is, MVS was a R5 pick... so from a value standpoint MVS was a pretty good pick. I think it's fair to say Watson has underperformed where he was drafted so far.

As for Pickens, he was a player I hoped GB would pick. He has/had a rep as kind of a diva and hothead, which probably knocked him down their board a bit. Not super mad about it, GB has decent receivers now, but a Pickens/Reed/Kraft combo would have been pretty fun. I think Watson is a superior athlete, but Pickens is a better football player. Good with contested catches, decent enough hands etc. Is a knucklehead though. IDK

Taking Sternberger over McLaurin and Amari Rodgers over Nico Collins (or St. Brown) bothers me more, I liked both those players and thought they were good fits for GB.

                              • Watson is a generational athlete. That is Gutes M.O. He likes to draft decathletes in the first round. Someday he will get over it. I still think he was to blame for Kevin King. I mean, his first round picks are athletic wonders, but only a couple have panned out. Going back he has drafted athletic stars of King, Jaire, Gary, Savage, Stokes, Quay and Van Ness. I would argue only Jaire lives up to his pick status (when he plays). Gary looked like he might, but has regressed this year. Van Ness is still young, but should be flashing by now.

Compare it to the "football players" he has focused on later in recent drafts. Guys like Enagbare, Tom, doubs, Walker, Williams, Brooks, Kraft (who he drafted athletic Musgrave ahead of). And I really want to know why Valentine can't find the field.
