I think the Packers prefer Tolzien's skills, but weren't sure if he was ready to be the backup this year. So they gave him another year on the roster to see how much progress he can make picking up the offense. At the end of the year though they'll decide between Flynn and Tolzien. I don't think they'll keep 3 QB's again.Originally posted by Pugger View PostI donno, the coaches must have plans for Tolzien or else why keep him around on the 53?I can't run no more

So do their plans include sitting Aaron Rodgers? There is no chance for Tolzien to start in Green Bay. If Tolzien wants a chance to prove himself on the field in the NFL, he'll have to go elsewhere. He knows that...and if that is what he wants, why would he resign with Green Bay?Originally posted by Pugger View PostI donno, the coaches must have plans for Tolzien or else why keep him around on the 53?It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

You knew what I meant. They must like what they see in him to keep him around. Scott has to know he isn't going to start in GB but he may know he is in a good situation to hone his skills with these QB gurus even if he's backing up AR in 2015.Originally posted by King Friday View PostSo do their plans include sitting Aaron Rodgers? Where is Tolzien going to get a chance to start? He has only been 1st or 2nd on a depth chart in Green Bay and that was due to injury.Originally posted by King Friday View PostSo do their plans include sitting Aaron Rodgers? His best bet would be sign on to a team with a weak starter as the #2 guy. But even that is precarious because that team will be looking to draft someone.
Not saying its impossible, but there might not be a lot of fits like that.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I don't understand why people seem to think there will be all these teams wanting to sign Tolzien. He's 27 (almost 28) and hasn't been anything more than a #3 except for a brief period last year when the Packers were forced to play him.I can't run no more

Why does Bob do this to himself?
Packer FA plans according to McGinn: Cobb is first priorityWhatever happens, it's almost a certainty that general manager Ted Thompson will be active in free agency again.

Clay won't start at ILB next year. We won't need to pay $5M to resign Raji. He only got $4M for this year and he had a season ending injury and will be close to 30 this year. $5M sounds about right for Bulaga. I think Cobb is gone if he wants $13M. I'm hopeful for a Jordy-like deal.Originally posted by ptisme View PostI believe we will be about 34 million under the cap. Add to that the 6 million (guessing) we'd save from cutting Hawk and Jones and we're around 40 million. Barrington and Clay will start there next year.
Priorities:
Cobb: 13 million (everyone wins. He'll learn his lesson about leaving Rodgers from Jennings).
Bulaga 5 million. Plenty of mileage left.
Raji 5 million (one year just like last time).
House 6 million-2 year "prove it" deal (It's either him or Tramon and Ted usually pays the younger guy).
Probably also Guion if the money is right.
Count on the draft and FA to take care of bolstering the LBer corp."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

I hope your correct. He's an important piece to Packer success.Originally posted by Cheesehead Craig View PostMy thought on Cobb is that he will not get the numbers he does in another system (short of Denver w/Manning and possibly NE) as being with Rodgers and GB enables him to do so. I think that front row seat to seeing Jennings leave and the shit situation he is in is going to be on his mind come signing time. Some players only care about the $ and usually they end up well paid, but miserable in the situation they end up in. Those are the guys you hear about that "just want to go to a winner" to end their career. I really hope and believe that Cobb will want to stay in GB, but will realize that he may not get paid by them as much as he possibly could elsewhere. He sees what Rodgers is doing and if he's smart, he'll stay here, win, get gaudy numbers, and be rather well paid.** Since 2006 3 X Pro Pickem' Champion; 4 X Runner-Up and 3 X 3rd place.

I have a feeling Raji may not be back. Guion has played pretty well and is younger than Raji. I imagine they intend to bring Pennel back, and I'm not sure they really have a use for 3 NT types.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangers View PostClay won't start at ILB next year. If any of the GMs had a crystal ball and could've seen that he'd play like this, he'd be making $10M+, not the 8.5 that he is. I was skeptical at the time of the signing, but you have to be just reading the boxscores and not watching the games to not appreciate what he is doing out there.Originally posted by Rutnstrut View PostI say get rid of Jones and peppers for sure, that would free up some money.--

I think Raji takes another pay cut if he's back, doesn't he ?
We gave him 5MIL for a season long injury. I don't think we give him that much again until he performsTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER
