That is still possibly a one year deal; as in, it would not break to cap to dump him next February if some catastrophe should strike.
After 2 years, no penalty to let him go.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

That part was obvious as soon as they reported a signing bonus of just $5M; after one year the remaining cap hit from it is just $3.75. With minimum salary for a 10 year vet at about $1M in 2017, His second year cap hit would have to be at least $2.25; but it was pretty well assured that he would get more "new" money the second year than just a minimum salary, so the cap hit to keep him would be higher than just $2.25M.Originally posted by pbmax View PostThat is still possibly a one year deal; as in, it would not break to cap to dump him next February if some catastrophe should strike.

Very much a pay-for-the-way-you-play contract. Just over $6M invested in him after one year even if he maxes out the roster and workout bonuses.

I keep reading that the Packers will have about 19 mill after this signing. Does anyone know approximately how much has to be set aside for the draft and for injury signings for the season?
In other words, I wonder how much they actually have to spend on a free agent or two this year?"The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Their rookie pool allocation should be around $6 M, depending on the compensatory picks they get.Originally posted by Fritz View PostI keep reading that the Packers will have about 19 mill after this signing. Also figure they are going to sign one of Raji/Perry/Neal. But from the looks of it, it will be a deal after the market shows its cool to one of them.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Roundly speaking, it sounds like, after the rooks are paid and one or two of the RajiNealPerry is or are signed, there'll be just enough left over to make Ted uncomfortable about spending it."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

Patler posted how Ted does something bordering on interesting every two years and that he is due.
I think there are a number of interesting vets who have been released early, who would cost nothing in the compensation pool calculation. He has enough money to get one. And I think there is a decent chance one will slip through past hibernating season and be willing to do a team protecting contract* and sign with Green Bay. Just seems like a lot of candidates early, even though the cap is going up, as teams prepare to open the vault for the top tier guys.
* Market level money with decent, but not record breaking, money up front so the team can release the player if there is trouble without a ton of dead cap room.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
