WTHR can confirm that Irsay's plane was in Houston last night. Why it was there and whether he was on the plane, we still don't know.

Irsay might be at the top of the list of goofy owners if he didn't occasionally stumble into people who make good decisions. First Polian lead to Manning, then to Dungy. But it might be turning back to circus as we speak.

Just this week they dropped hints (no formal announcement) that Pagano and Grigson were coming back.

Theory is that the Texans might want to part ways with Bill O'Brien because he has proven unable to do the thing he was hired to do. Develop a QB.

Two ex-Lions coaches, Rod Marinelli and Jim Schwartz, out there who aren't getting a sniff, does the stench of that franchise ever wear off?

I also learned that one of the Browns coaches that was fired was the OLB coach Ryan Slowik, son of everyone's favorite Packers DC!

A great motivator and teacher but not innovative or able to out-scheme anyone.

Schwartz has been a heck of a D coordinator for the Bills and Eagles recently. He made Rex and Rob Ryan look like fools in Buffalo.

Jim Irsay’s run at Jon Gruden is another sign of state of his thinking. Irsay determined to do anything in his power to return Colts to SB.

I hope this happens and its a disaster from start to finish. A lot would depend on the GM. But Gruden probably does fix the offense, Holmgren style. Its plays better, makes more sense but it not updated enough to counter good, modern Defenses and they rely on Luck to save their bacon too much. Then they wait for the D, everyone gets a little tired of Chucky's act, and its all over. Like Jimmy in Miami.

Rumors true: Colts owner Jim Irsay did pursue Jon Gruden, but Gruden resisted overtures, league sources tell ESPN. Gruden staying in TV.

Exactly, Gruden has a good, comfortable gig that lets him enjoy life a little. He also doesn't have to look too hard at his brother Jay answering to Snyder in Washington to remind himself of what an NFL head coach's life is like.

Good article on PFT about how the league should protect its coach's health the way it does the players, by restricting their hours of work. Why would Jon Gruden want to go back to 20h days?

Not to mention that Irsay is a fool if he thinks Jon Gruden could step right back in. The game has changed in the decade he (and Cowher!) have been gone.

Good Point about Irsay, Guiness. If I were a fan, I'd be worried if my owner thought bringing someone back from his glory days of 15 years ago was the magic elixir.

Gruden is rumored to be the highest paid on air sports announcer at about $7 million. Not much reason to leave that for the hours required from a head coach.

What a bunch of bunk. He was already the HC at Denver and he is now taking his name out of consideration. Either he didn't get the job or Jed York and the GM situation scared him.
