PFT says the gist is that there were no replays available during the broadcast to review said infraction at the 50 yard line. Which raises some good questions:
ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk
NFL now admits that OPI in Bengals-Washington couldn't be reviewed because the interference happened away from any available camera angles...
Yes, another flaw has been identified when it comes to replay review of pass interference calls and non-calls. After declining to explain on Thursday night the basis for upholding via replay review…
@ProFootballTalk
If a coach challenges OPI or DPI and the alleged contact happened away the various available TV cameras, should the coach have his red flag and his time out restored?
Its good these things get worked out in the preseason.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Great illustration of why it looks like the LT has blown a block but it might be on the QB and Guard instead. Have seen the right side of the Packers O line do this about 28 times in the last two years.
Of course, there is a guy calling himself Coach in the responses saying the LT read it wrong.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

It's 6 on 5. The defense won when the offense didn't correctly guess that everyone was coming. That had to be either a change in protection or a very fast dump off. But the key is recognition."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. Rather be as I am and feel real sympathy for his sickness." - Woodbuck

In this case, the QB's recognition. The center and guard eventually sorted it out in the middle, but the QB didn't count correctly (assuming Schwartz and not CoachPuma is correctly identifying the protection call).Originally posted by mraynrand View PostIt's 6 on 5. The irony is that if they had not crossed the ILB, one of them gets there fast enough to scoot free right to the QB. But they cross them to confuse the gap read of those guys.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Pop Warner chair Jon Butler:
@bachyns
The executive director of Pop Warner expressed the industry's stance: "First, we have a duty to football. This means too much to people & has for so long we can't turn our back on it. We figured out tobacco. We figured out asbestos. We'll figure this out."
He's not talking player safety. He is talking injury settlements and class action lawsuits. But he is also, like tobacco and asbestos manufacturers, avoiding talking about at least 20, if not more than 30, years of having their heads in the sand. Parents of children I went to school with kept kids from playing football for fear of head injuries (seeing stars) well before 1980. Declining youth participation didn't start with Mike Webster stories or Junior Seau.
I wonder what the football equivalent of vaping will be?

It's already here - the flag football that those aging former NFL stars play. It will go electronic and eventually go VR (to prevent the constant collisions that linemen experience).Originally posted by pbmax View PostPop Warner chair Jon Butler:

The strange thing is that eventually the studies will break past the reviewer and editor blocks and show that, other than men who play from pop warner until they are well in their 30s, there really is no higher incident of the encephalitis than controls and not certainly from other collision sports.
I'm interested in whether the truth will come out before the sport goes bye bye, and also what people will do once they see that the same effects (such as they are) come from hockey, soccer, lacrosse, and certainly rugby. Maybe we'll just have a nation of fat blobs playing sports on VR and dying before they're 50 from cardiovascular or diabetic events."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. Its the kind of thing that coordinated action could help. But instead they shrink from funding studies they won't control to handing out coaching clinics that are convincing no one.Originally posted by mraynrand View PostIt's already here - the flag football that those aging former NFL stars play. Of course. They're terrified of being sacked. Look what happened with the lawsuit and the payouts. There's plenty of terrible behavior to go around. While I have little sympathy for the NFL, I still know when they're being attacked.Originally posted by pbmax View PostIts the kind of thing that coordinated action could help. Extensive studies exist on STDs, and people still prostitue themselves for the frogskin. Why? One word: Capitalism.Originally posted by mraynrand View PostIt's already here - the flag football that those aging former NFL stars play. Likewise, so long as capitalism exists, there will always be people willing to sell their bodies playing "real" football (as well as boxing and the other CTE-prone sports you mentioned).
Advanced CTEs studies will simply weed out the Rudys and Chris Borlands from the rye . Such studies will NOT annihilate the game. The Rudys lack Kung Fu, so there's no point in risking health. The Borlands are spoiled children of wealth, so they possess the capitals to deviate away from futbol.
Capitalism creates wealth inequality. There are millions of humble lads grinding away on the streets of Baltimore, and millions more are born everyday. Football is their only escape.

Boxing doesn't command the same attention as football. If it did, they'd go after that as well. But not as aggressively, since there have been major inroads by women at least in MMA , so it isn't as valuable a target."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. Just cos boxing doesn't get the same attention that football does doesn't mean that boxing is not a CTE-prone sport. Boxing is probably more fucked up than football.Originally posted by mraynrand View PostBoxing doesn't command the same attention as football. If it did, they'd go after that as well. My point being, however, is that football ain't dying anytime soon, unless the capitalist economy tanks into the abyss of oblivion. Football is a greed-fucked sport. The NFL pig owners make billions of frogskins off the game. "Public" universities make billions off the game. And there's no shortage of players, thanks to capitalism.

Boxing is a CTE-inducing sport, by intention. That's not why they're going after football. CTE is just a tool to get rid of it.Originally posted by Anti-Polar Bear View PostJust cos boxing doesn't get the same attention that football does doesn't mean that boxing is not a CTE-prone sport. Sure, money will help it survive, but that won't be enough. The people trying to kill it don't care about the money. Just ask the Star Wars franchise.Originally posted by Anti-Polar Bear View PostMy point being, however, is that football ain't dying anytime soon, unless the capitalist economy tanks into the abyss of oblivion.
