  • Alright, let's do this damn thing before it falls to the way side:

    Myles Garrett - 6'4.25" - 272 lbs - 35.25" arms - 10.25" hands - 4.64 40 - 41" vert - 10'8" broad - 33 reps

    Rashan Gary - 6'4" - 277 lbs - 34.125" arms - 9.675" hands - 4.58 40 - 38" vert - 10" broad - 26 reps - 7.26 3 cone - 4.29 short shuttle

    Jadeveon Clowney - 6'5.25" - 266 lbs - 34.5" arms - 10" hands - 4.53 40 - 37.5" vert - 10'4" broad - 21 reps - 7.27 3 cone - 4.43 short shuttle

    TJ Watt - 6'4.5" - 252 lbs - 33.125' arms - 11" hands - 4.69 40 - 37 vert - 10'8" broad - 21 reps - 6.79 3 cone - 4.13 short shuttle

Prior to this year, Gary was ranked a very small notch below Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney as far as freaky deaky prospects. I think he's going to be a very good run defender since he's thick, and I imagine he'll be a solid outside rusher too. He won't be a starter so a lot of pressure will be off him to refine. He couldn't have landed in a better spot, and I am glad we went edge. I truly believe that Gooter went BPA, which is fantastic in my eyes.

Yes. Somebody posted a graphic on Gary on the Footballs Future site from PFF.

      • how would the production compare between those four ? And if it helps you could even use each players best year.
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

        • Fackrell has 10 sacks on like 20 pressures last year. Gary had 13 sacks on 87 pressures in college. Hopefully, Gary's stats even out.

          • I want to like the Gary pick, but I just can't talk myself into it. Consistency issues, injury issues, underwhelming production in relation to athletic ability. I'd argue he has one of the highest chances to bust in the entire first round. Not great value at 12.
Savage has the tools to be a beast and I'm happy we kept both day 2 picks and still moved up to get him. Gimme Cody Ford and Samuel/A.J. Brown/Hardiman/Ridley tomorrow and I'm still pretty happy with the haul.

People thought Jadeveon Clowney had effort issues his last year on campus too. He only had 3 sacks.

I think Clowney is a better comparison than Watt, though admittedly I haven't looked up Watt's numbers. I think people sort of judge Gary because he is a bit of a tweener and looks pudgy in the face. I am optimistic he is going to be a great player for us based on nothing than my own optimism.

              • Gutekunst pretty forceful pushing against scouts who think Rashan Gary doesn't have a high motor: "I think that's people who probably haven't done their homework. If you watch the tape, this guy played with his hair on fire."

Gutey said he was "locked in on" Rashan Gary since February. Says no concerns over lack of production: "He affected the passer. He affected the game. And at times, he wrecked it. Certainly, he's a premier athlete, and he has an exceptional motor on the field."

Gutekunst acknowledges he has an offensive coach, but says defensive focus tonight was staying true to best player available: "This is one of the better defensive drafts in a long, long time. So we knew the numbers were a little bit better on the defensive side."
In Gooter we trust. Scouts are saying he's smart, cares a lot about football, and is obviously freaky athletic. That checks all of the boxes but production. If he had the production to match, we would have went #1.

                • Daniel Jeremiah's overview of Gary: "Gary is more athlete than football player at this time, but the upside is off the charts, and his effort is phenomenal.

                      • so...we've got the free safety we badly needed (who is a ball-hawk with great closing speed), and another edge/d-lineman. no complaints. we've got picks 44 and 75 to use on the O.

                          12. Rashan Gary, LB, Green Bay Packers

Things that jump out at you are he's a freak athlete. It's a question of talent versus production. He can get off early, he just needs to finish in the pass rush. He can dominate tight ends in the running game, he can covert speed to power. There just wasn't a ton of sack production, but there were a lot of traits. They went at the pass rush in free agency and just doubled down in the draft.
                          21. Darnell Savage, DB, Green Bay Packers

He's explosive, you can play him all over the field. He is always around the field. The buzz really started about him over the last week. You love the toughness he brings to the table. He can play the nickel, he's that athletic, that 4.3 40 translates.

                          • I wanted one of the two Iowa TEs. Welp, no TE help for Rodgers.

I'm underwhelmed so far, but I also don't know anything about scouting. So I hope I move up to whelmed, then overwhelmed as they progress.
No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

You said the exact same shit when Justin Harrell was drafted.

                              • Criminal. Year after year drafting defense. This year we spent FA coin on defense. Meanwhile Rodgers has 1 great WR and a bunch of 3-5 types and a good injury prone RB.

Could we not have helped him via FA or one of these picks??!

Here Aaron. Take busted Graham and a gaggle of late round WR who can’t separate! Good luck. Oh nevermind your RT is always hurt
