excellent rantOriginally posted by Packers4Glory View PostCriminal. Year after year drafting defense. This year we spent FA coin on defense. Meanwhile Rodgers has 1 great WR and a bunch of 3-5 types and a good injury prone RB.
Could we not have helped him via FA or one of these picks??!
Here Aaron. Take busted Graham and a gaggle of late round WR who can’t separate! Good luck. Oh nevermind your RT is always hurt

If we are doing this:Originally posted by call_me_ishmael View PostAlright, let's do this damn thing before it falls to the way side:
Myles Garrett - 6'4.25" - 272 lbs - 35.25" arms - 10.25" hands - 4.64 40 - 41" vert - 10'8" broad - 33 reps
Rashan Gary - 6'4" - 277 lbs - 34.125" arms - 9.675" hands - 4.58 40 - 38" vert - 10" broad - 26 reps - 7.26 3 cone - 4.29 short shuttle
Jadeveon Clowney - 6'5.25" - 266 lbs - 34.5" arms - 10" hands - 4.53 40 - 37.5" vert - 10'4" broad - 21 reps - 7.27 3 cone - 4.43 short shuttle
TJ Watt - 6'4.5" - 252 lbs - 33.125' arms - 11" hands - 4.69 40 - 37 vert - 10'8" broad - 21 reps - 6.79 3 cone - 4.13 short shuttle
Prior to this year, Gary was ranked a very small notch below Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney as far as freaky deaky prospects. I think he's going to be a very good run defender since he's thick, and I imagine he'll be a solid outside rusher too. He won't be a starter so a lot of pressure will be off him to refine. He couldn't have landed in a better spot, and I am glad we went edge. I truly believe that Gooter went BPA, which is fantastic in my eyes.
Montez Sweat: 6'6" 260 lbs - 35 3/4 arms - 10 1/2 hands - 4.41 40 - 36" vert - 10"5" broad - 21 reps - 7.0 3 cone - 4.29 SSThe only time success comes before work is in the dictionary -- Vince Lombardi

My opinion, I never would have looked at gary @12, and am worried he is going to be another Harrell.
Savage has potential, but his size is a bit of a concern to me. The fact that some of you are comparing him to Thomas and Collins gives me great hope and also wonder how much you guys had to drink while watching the draft. All tyrannies rule through fraud and force, but once the fraud is exposed they must rely exclusively on force.

Green Bay Packers
Draft pick: Michigan OLB Rashan Gary (No. 12 overall); Maryland S Darnell Savage (No. 21 overall)
Day 1 grade: A
Draft analysis: Gary's production wasn't what you would have liked at Michigan and his off-field business interest turned off some teams. However, he has great athletic upside as a defender in the Packers' scheme. Announced as a linebacker at the draft on Thursday, Gary can play outside or inside and gives consistent full effort. Green Bay had an extra first-round pick from a 2018 draft-day trade with New Orleans (No. 30 overall). The Packers traded up, though, and selected Savage, who fills an immediate need at safety. He will be an effective nickel defender and will pop ball-carriers whenever possible. Trading away two fourth-round selections (one of which was gained from Washington for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix) was fine given their multiple early picks this year."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

I couldn't disagree more. Maybe if the Packers were awarded wins for having the most gifted athletes they could contend for a title, but Gary is all show, no go. He hasn't produced, period. He disappeared in big games. And don't give me that crap about him being double and triple-teamed, so he freed up other guys to make plays. The Packers already have two undrafted former free agents who can do that. And don't give me that crap about run defense, either. Nobody drafts a defensive guy at #12 because he's a good run stopper.Originally posted by JustinHarrell View PostI’m getting fired the fuck up about Gary. His run defense and pressures are exciting!!!!
Mike Neal was always "close" to getting a sack. Ditto for Dante Jones.
This pick makes me sick to my stomach. What a total waste. And while I don't know much about Savage, I have to agree with Nutz - why did Gutekunst feel like he needed to give up two precious fourth rounders for a guy that seemed pretty likely to go at the end of the round, if not the beginning of the second? Did Gute panic because the Steelers snatched an actual playmaker, Devin Bush, ahead of Green Bay?
This is my analysis of what Gutekunst did yesterday in that first round:

It depends on what is happening elsewhere. Coverage and your fellow pass rushers. Could also be a problem disengaging with your blocker. Fackrell was so out of control at times he didn't need to disengage, he lost the tackle.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangers View PostFackrell has 10 sacks on like 20 pressures last year. Gary had 13 sacks on 87 pressures in college. Hopefully, Gary's stats even out.
Gary had better players (for college) around him pass rushing.
I don't think sacks are the best measure of a team disrupting an opponent's passer. But I am not sure how it balances with pressures.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Gutes is really selling it. He seems to have known this pick would get some negative coverage.Originally posted by call_me_ishmael View Posthttps://twitter.com/ByRyanWood/statu...28113610297349
In Gooter we trust. Scouts are saying he's smart, cares a lot about football, and is obviously freaky athletic. That checks all of the boxes but production. If he had the production to match, we would have went #1.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Jeez Fritz!
Eagles were rumored to like Savage.
But now I want to know what Gary's offseason business interest is. Please tell me its not massage parlors.
Though maybe you could trap coaches/owners/GMs and blackmail some info out of them.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

PB, I see you trying to rationalize this pick. And I appreciate your trying to buck us (and maybe yourself) up.
But the fact that you - and Guter - have to rationalize this pick is not a good sign."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."
