I don't think he is a guard. His best block is the double team then going after the 2nd level. There are so many blown blocks on the right side. Its happened for years, so it can't just be Turner, but he isn't the solution either.
I think Turner has been solid. I don't necessarily trust PFF, but he's been rated as a slightly above average starter at OG by them. I think that's fair. He's not Jenkins, but he's not a turnstile and he doesn't have an obvious weakness (e.g. he's not great run blocking and terrible pass blocking). He's about average for both.

He's been in the middle of a LOT of missed blocks. But that has plagued the right side before, so I can't say its him.

He has too much marshmallow in him, he stops his blocks at least one beat too early.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

      • I think that is the negative on him. His run blocking and pass blocking have been decent, but he tends to stand around near the end of plays. Wish he had a bit more mauler in him.

        • I think Turner is just ok - has some really good plays and then some rookie-bad plays. Doesn't play to the echo of the whistle and I wish he did. Not sure what the average salary is for a slightly-above to average starting RG, but I felt the contract was a little rich and risky. I assumed they priced in some flexibility to replace Bulaga and maybe that's still in their plans.

Given the offense they want to run I suppose they couldn't resign the host of Jahri Evans at a bit above the vet minimum.

He’s been involved in most of the miscommunications that I’ve seen. Might just be confirmation bias though. He’s the guy standing in his spot blocking no one while Rodgers gets smoked.

            • I wonder where PFF has Linsley. I feel like Turner has been as good as Linsley. We've had good OL this year. Solid run blocker. Rodgers still holds onto the ball too much--which makes them look bad. OL has to be in the top 10 this year.

              • It seems like most of our good running plays have been over Jenkins and Linsley, not so much Turner and not often off tackle.

Does Aaron Rodgers hold onto the ball too long? I have heard that bogus line for a long time. No! A LOT of it is having to move to escape the rush - even this season when it hasn't been quite as bad. The rest is using good sense, taking care to not throw it into coverage, as so so many QBs do. I don't want that! Anybody who does want Rodgers to hurry and throw it into coverage is a damn fool. He is the GOAT for a lot of reasons, but primarily having the accuracy and GOOD SENSE not to throw interceptions. If our O Line is in the top 10 for pass blocking, it's mainly because of Rodgers' mobility. I will say, they appeared to me the previous few years to be near the bottom in quality. This year I would call them middle of the pack - the arrival of Jenkins and the mostly healthy status of Bulaga.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

...and yet, the people and organizations who provide statistical analyses for a living, have said Rodgers is the least pressured QB in the league. If a qb is forced to move to avoid the rush, that is considered a pressure. Therefore, your argument makes no sense.

Nobody wants Rodgers to make as many ill-advised throws as Favre did during much of his career. But taking short opportunities that are there, instead of so often waiting for the longer opportunities to open up would be nice.

How about throw the ball out of bounds? Last game he had a play with about 5 seconds in the pocket and another 3 or 4 when he rolled out. No one was open. He took an unnecessary hit when the lineman final caught him. It reminded me of the Barr hit in that if ARod had dumped it .5 seconds earlier he isn’t getting hit on either play.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

                      • Even at 12-3, the usual ingrates and idiots still whine about Aaron Rodgers hahahaha.

Every time I see a game, pro or college, where the QB basically loses it or comes close throwing a stupid interception - doing exactly what ya'all wish for from Rodgers, I'm damn thankful we have him. He got complacent and actually threw a stupid one last game - after however many games without. That's four all season, and a couple of those, I think, were tipped by receivers. Did any of ya'all whiners actually watch the play referred to - where it looked like the guy was blocked but he slipped off and got him? - shit happens, even to Rodgers.

It's true the line play hasn't been quite as bad this year, and it's also true we could use another good WR and probably a better TE, but that supposed stat by some puke who gets paid for that is a glowing example of lying with statistics.

Complacency is the forerunner of mediocrity. You can never work too hard on attitudes, effort and technique.
